Best feel small keyboard with 37 keys
So I am well served with my Novation Impulse 49 but for portability I would like to have something smaller. I would prefer 37 keys. I have the Launchkey mini and Akai MPK mini mk2 but I am really not satisfied with the feel of them (being the akai much better) and this time I just want the keys. No knobs no pads.
Having said that how is the IK Multimedia iRig Keys Pro holding up for you?
I've edited the title. No 25 keys now.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Korgs: http://www.korg.com/us/products/controllers/microkey/
I've got the 37 key and the action is superb. I don't have it connected to the iPad at the moment but use it with my Mac and it's a lovely thing.
Thanks.
I had forgotten that one.
The only thing I've got going for the Irig Keys Pro is the full sized keys.
Do you know the CME Xkey? I doubt I'll like it because of the action but It's worth asking.
The best feeling small keyboard I've tried recently was the Alesis V25. It has full size keys so its a bit bigger then the mini keyboards, but still pretty small, about 1.6 AKAI MKP Mini mk2s IIRC.
Thanks. I'm really trying to spare my space. I don't think I'm interested in pads and knobs.
I don't think you'd be disappointed with the Keys on the Korg - they're big enough for my banana fingers and have a great action. For me it's a perfect balance between key size and portability, and up to 37 key versions don't need a powered hub. Good build quality, octave buttons and a little joystick for mucking about.
Uau. You're really selling this. Either you're a very good strangely motivated seller or I should get it.
Do you need a powered hub to connect 37 key Korg to ipad? I think the 25 key version connects direct via camera kit.
Sorry @monzo.... Just seen your comment above!

I owned the Microkey 37 a few years and can full agree. But I sold it because of needing an USB hub when connecting it to the iPad.
@Klangsulfat
This also happens with my Akai MPK mini mk2..
I got an iRig Keys (w/ mini keys). I don't know how the keys compare to Korgs 37 mini keys keyboards, but I'm definitely happy with it (as happy as u can get with mini keys I guess). Also got, besides pitch/mod wheel, one assignable knob.

Yes. this is my problem with small keyboards, as well. But right now I don't think it will be a miss, buying the Pro. The Impulse 49 is quite big and heavy. I love it. But no to get out of the house. And for a small keyboard I prefer having just the iPad and something I can actually play. I noticed a big, huge difference in my... Learning? - Pleasure, writing, I dunno - when I started using something full size and semi-weighted.
It's only 24 keys and hasn't been released yet, but I'm looking forward to the Miselu C.24 which uses opposing magnets on the keys to get a semi-weighted feel. I hope to have mine in a few weeks.
If you can find a used Alesis Micron, those things are excellent. One of the few full-sized 37 key synths out there. You would need an interface to go with the iPad, but it's shockingly small and an awesome synth to boot.
Thanks guys.
@funjunkie
The Miselu limitation of the 24 keys is a no go for me. And a bit over budget. I enjoyed watching the videos, though.
@papertiger
A bit to feature heavy. I'm not looking for a synth but it would be a great purchase if I could fit it into my budget, which I seriously doubt.
I'm starting a poll.
^ you could probably find one for under $200? I think? Bah -- what do I know.
But I respect your 37 key requirement. It's the only way!
I already have two small keyboards. I don't have the Lk mini with me (I'm kind of an immigrant, you see ) but I'm keeping it for the pads to control loopy.
The akai... I don't know. Small workstation. Although one key is damaged because of the trips. (I bought it for the purpose of having a small workstation for my backpack but besides no longer liking knobs and pads for immediate satisfaction it also has the keys limitation.)
With these two I always felt frustrated reaching for keys that don't exist. That's why..
Maybe because I don't play that many synths or use pitch bend and mod wheel. When I do play synths I also like to have more of a classical (?) playing style in the sense that I play as if a piano.
Anyway... I'm all over Korg Module now.
I f up the poll.

Please report back Captain.
Axiom Air Mini 32 is really great and fits in a laptop bag. Really solid controller.
+1 for Axiom Air Mini 32. Only issue is, I haven't been able to connect to Sampletank. I don't know if it's a lightening to 30 pin adapter issue or not. @ Musicman4Christ have you had success with Sampletank?
Make sure SampleTank is listening to the midi channel the keyboard is sending out on (and that there's a instrument loaded in that particular part in ST), if not, change midi ch in sampletank alternatively change the midi ch out on the keyboard.
That's the only thing I can think of w/ sampletank.
Thanks @ChrisG That was it. For whatever reason the keyboard midi out is on channel 4. I Don't remember how to change the channel, and don't have manual. If anyone has a link to manual please post. Thanks.
i have the the microkey i bought them a week ago.. the keys are absolutely feels great.
2 thing to consider. 1. they don't fits on a Backpack but they are very light and do take much space on the desk.
2. they have velocity range issue they don't rich to the highest 127 velocity(only around 120) i fixed this with velocity effect .(midi bridge)
Finally I changed them to the 61 model because i think its not much big from the 37 and give more freedom to play.
the keyboard also have usbhub in it so i connect also the launchcontrol over it and the iPad is recognised the 2 devices.
i am so happy with may 61 micro key .
Found manual for Axiom Air mini 32, in case someone else needs it. http://www.madridhifi.com/_published_files/producto/10053499/pdf/1/Axiom_AIR_Mini_32.pdf
