Garage Band Export Options?

Hello all. I'm trying to export some samples guitar chords from GB. I prefer to run them through ToneStack with AudioBus but it doesn't show up on the list. Not in IAA either. Can't find audio copy either.

  • exporting options with GB suck! You can not use GB in the Input slot of Audiobus - only the output slot. Been awhile since I've used, but you need to export your whole song or section ... can't remember but I think you export to iTunes, then there should be an option to "Open In..." button and you can open your mixdown in Audioshare or any apps that support itunes import...

  • If you use the "open in"function to audioshare, you can then open audioshare in the input of AB and tonestack in the effects slot..

  • What you have to do is solo track by track and export the song with open in. I don't know what @Halftone is saying but it's been a long time since I did this so this might not be true anymore. Or probably you can still do this but there are new ways of exporting.

  • Thanks guys. I sent it via email and opened it in AudioShare. A pain in the ass but then what isn't? :)

  • Much easier just to open in audioshare and skip the email step.

Yep, 'open in' Audioshare and you can export a full song at decent quality, track by track if you want to mix in a DAW, or playback a single track via the effect of your choice back into GB.

GB is missing some major, basic, features. A pain in the trousers if you're an iPad 2 user as the other DAW's struggle with the CPU. Can't wait to upgrade my pad and get something better than GB

  • Not to mention when you email it you get a compressed file.

  • @monzo ... multitrack daw has always been pretty stable for audio recording on my 32gb ipad2. I also use cubasis but have found that it can suffer from glitches & drop outs on lengthy live takes if there is insufficient free memory.

Thanks Paul, I've seen a few recommendations for Multitrack so I'll check that out
