Xmas at the App Store

edited December 2014 in General App Discussion

Due to an influx of Xmas gifts in the form of App Store cards I went on a feeding frenzy- er, shopping spree and landed the following apps (all AB, of course):

Looptical
Caustic
Gestrument (on sale!)
Synth 76477
Model V Organ (lot of 60's happ'nin' here)
Tachyon
iFretless Bass/Brass & Sax

...plus a few others to play around with. Indeed, the iFretless Bass has already been helpful on a Talking Heads cover I'm working on!

Since i already own more music apps than it's good for my creativity (and all the - for me -interesting stuff on sale i already own) i went more for games in my Xmas appstore shopping spree :)

  • Pairs of socks, pairs of shoes, and an unsolicited pair of Marshall headphones which seem surprisingly good. The Boy Child Object did receive an X-Box and there's a part of me that's wondering how I can also profit from this acquisition...

You are never too old to be a gamer. :)

Set up a Plex account and you can access all of your media on the Xbox.

  • I received a gift from nature 'a wintertime bug' made for a horrid day, well until my kids came over, to see the looks of wonder and excitement on their faces, no better cure. Have fun everybody.

Santa brought me a nice Minirig speaker so I can share my iPad experimental electronica noodlings with the family, which will be nice for them, but I also have a £15 store voucher. I'm thinking iFretless guitar and bass combo, and see if I can shoehorn in some Sparkle. Our boy child received his first guitar so it's been a particularly noisy house this festive season.

  • Just bought FM4.. And it's well worth £0.69.

  • Santa got me line 6 sonic port with lightning and 20pin cables so I can sell the old one which only came with 20pin cable. The good thing about not believing in Santa is that you can 'order' stuff you actually need and make happy the inner muso kid.

  • I was well treated this year, got a volca beats,a pair of audiotechnica headphones, and lots of apps. The apps I got were ipolysix, gadget,Laplace and rebirth. Very happy

  • I was hoping to get the Korg Sampler but Santa seemed to miss the constant, blatant hints I made over the last two months...

  • Gonna try to make a diamond with my coal app. Will need lots of compression.

I got a gift card in my stocking and promptly bought the iSymphonic Orchestra IAP while it was still on sale. Lots of interesting new presets in the bundle, so no regrets.

Too funny. Still chuckling as I'm typing.

  • Got Korg Module and SoundPrism Electro, have $45 left ... Do I get:

    1. iSymphonic w/IAP (if I knew it would work well with Midi exported from MusicStudio = slam dunk)
    2. Z3TA+ w/Samplr, Sparkle and miMix (for future live application)?
    3. Timeless filter for Auria w/Wizard's toolkit (which I can get for 5 bucks due to having GeoSynth)
    4. Bite the gigabytes and grab the Ivory Expansion for Module (already have iGrand and soundfonts)

I'm experiencing analysis paralysis and the clock's ticking on some of these sales ... Doh!

Yes, you're right, you need all of those.

Barring something urgent and useful (to you) as regards 1, you've got to start with 2.

Or instead send flowers to someone you love, but have never told before. See if you get a song out of it (triumph or heartbreak). Easily worth 45 bucks.

  • Forgo them all and wait for a sale on something you need.

If you're dying to use it though, I can send you my wish list ;-)

You see the bind I'm in.

Great advice, I thank you both. iSymphonic is more want than need. And the Ivory expansion is just gratuitous already owning Module itself, iGrand, iLectric, Galileo and a well-stocked bs16i. Think I'll focus on sale items I have a strong use scenario for at this time :)
