Novation impulse iPad compatibility help
Hi I am torn between buying the novation impulse 49 or the m audio axiom 49 2nd edition. I am heading towards the impulse but I am not sure if it can be used with the iPad3. I can use the apple camera connection kit or use traditional midi vai an alesis io dock2.
Any help would be most appreciated
Thanks

They both are kind of similar. I never owned the impulse but I did the Axiom 1st Gen though. I really love the feel of the key action on the Axiom. I tried both at guitar center and really liked both. The impulse does seem to have a more solid built feel bit other than that, both are really awesome
@Paulmil1231 Apparently yes. Here's a YouTuber who was also debating between the Axiom and the Novation and went with Novation. She runs through her entire connection setup between the 61 key version and an iPad mini:
I've been looking at akai mpk and novation nocturn mk2. Have you considered these two?
Samson graphite is a well spec'd inexpensive option too.
If you want portability I would recommend the Axiom Air mini32. But for home use and all around great midi controller, both the impulse and Axiom will be awesome!Check out the build quality of each though.
I use an impulse 49 with my iPad, as long as you use a powered usb hub it works wonderfully.
I like the impulse keyboards, the arp is useful, separate midi ports are nice, it's easy to setup (the screen is helpful) and the keys feel good. I got mine on sale and Im happy with it, the build could be better in places but nothing terrible. I'd recommend it
I have an Impulse as well. And yes the the screen is really useful. It's working great!
Thanks for your comments. I am swaying towards the impulse. I have read some reports that the axiom can suffer from what they call "blue screen" where the screen goes blank which is apparently a problem with the mother board, which then needs to be flashed to fix it. I have asked m audio if they have sorted the problem out yet. I will post here if I hear from them
Best wishes
