Auria, AB and Drumperfect

edited December 2014 in General App Discussion

I'm hoping someone else might be able to confirm an intermittant issue I'm having trying to record Drumperfect into Auria via Audio Bus. I can set it to sync and hear DP coming into a channel in Auria, but nothing I do will make that track record.
I have used DP and Auria with AB for quite some time now and, although it is often buggy, I've never run into a problem where I can hear the DP playing in sync with Auria, but it will not record the signal no mater what I do.

Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

My only thought is to ask why you would use audiobus for this. IAA works better for this in Auria in my experience.

  • sigh...yes, it would be wonderful if IAA actually worked with DP and Auria! But so far, this has not proven at all reliable for me...

  • Fair enough...sorry your experience hasn't been the same as mine. I find that sync, in my own personal experience, seems to work better over IAA. If I'm using something that needs clock sync to be perfect, that's typially the path I take. Hope you have better luck, and my apologies for not being able to offer any advice on the ab side.

    Hi @jg707,
Could you be more specific about the issue you're experiencing?

  • Hi Marinus,

First, thanks for responding!1 I love your product, it's the best drum app for iPad in my opinion... So here's what I experience.

If I try to use DP IAA in Auria, I get no sound. This is since the upgrade to iOS8, so I'm assuming it's due to that. If I use it though AB, I get sound, it show activity in the meter, and it syncs fairly well, but it simply won't record the signal. This is an intermittant problem and made be within Auria, but it only happens with DP. I use both these apps a great deal, but this issue has me stumped. Any ideas?

I have posted in the Auria Forum as well....

    Thanks again!

  • I assume you've taken a look at the input matrix in Auria when using AB? I'll go test IAA again now and see if I can recreate the issue.

  • I'm still able to record into Auria via IAA with Drumperfect since the most recent update without problems. (Which, by the way Marinus, was a spectacular update - nice work).

I'm still pretty useless as far as offering a solution, but at least I can say it's working for me right now. I'm iPad Air, latest iOS.

  • Where can we find out a list of how we need to configure Auria settings to use with AudioBus. Sorry if this is a dumb question. Just learning to make sure all settings are where they should be. THanks!

  • I think there's is lots of info on it here in this forum and over on the Auria forum as well. The short version is that you just have to be sure that you're routing your AB signal to the correct track in Auria. Sometimes that's a manual process. When you are in Auria, on the track view, you can put your finger on the "Arm" button and hold it for a sec and a sub menu will pop up allowing you to change the recording level and...the one you're looking for, the input matrix settings. Or...you can get to it from the menu at the top if that's cumbersome for you. On the right side of that panel that opens, you'll see Normal and Audiobus. Be sure to select Audiobus, then you will see the routings. Thinking you might have it figured out from there. If you have trouble finding it or getting it sorted from there, let us know.

  • Just recorded Drumperfect synced to Auria. I went into Auria and launched Drumperfect via the insert effects. Recorded all tracks of Drumperct as stereo file into a stereo track of Auria. I did try changing the tempo in Auria while tapping at the tap tempo, but I couldn't tell the change, until i exited the tap tempo screen in Auria. It all recorded perfectly! I think you may need to go to your Midi settings in Auria, and make sure that you are sending and receiving clocks from Drumperfect. Running latest OS on iPad Air.

  • ^ Not done this before, but did it now, and works perfectly....(Air, 8 etc)

  • Well, maybe it's something on my end then...I've been using DP with Auria via AB and as IAA for quite a while now and this has just recently started happening. I have updated everything and rebooted a few times as well. But as I said, it is intermittant. The one thing that is consistant is I am unable to get DP to work via IAA since the last iOS update.

Thanks everyone for the input...I'll keep trying till something starts magically working again...that's often how these things resolve themselves!

  • After I got DP working. The I launched Tonestack and no sound. Huh?
Well rebooted, did the Ram cleaning thingy, and it worked. Go figure.

    I can't reproduce it either.

You could try to follow the backup-and-restore route. I know it takes time, but sometimes it will actually resolve issues.

  • Thanks Marinus! I will do that once I finish the project I'm currently finishing. I'm sure it will resolve itself one way or another...
