Lately I've been getting into the Gadget synths too. My favorite is the Phoniex but the others are also useful. Toyko has some unique drum sounds.

Yeah it's a well designed app. I know ios has it's issues but with Gadget, AS and a handful of apps there's an awful lot you can do.
@Matt +1 for the fx, wonder if Korg will do it as an IAP so we can load our own effects, that would be sweet.
Korg stuff- Gadget synths, iPolysix, iMS-20, all have very "compelling basic tone", to my ears. They've been making compelling tones for decades. Another distinctly different flavor of compelling tones, dear to my ears, come from VirSyn synths, not only Tera but also Addictive, microTERA, Cube, (and Micro Addictive on iPhone). Tones that'll take your head off, type stuff. Nave is another decapitator tone wise, also ArcticProSynth.
And never forget Crystal, tones upon tones icy and otherwise.
I'd also add Gadget: Kiev (underrated) great for mixing 4 different tones to get suttle variants and chords etc & Phoenix.....lovely warmth and character
I need to spend more time really mastering Phoenix.
1) I will raise a glass to 76 synth, In the name of tone and the purpose if this thread. 76 synth still holds up.
2) LaPlace is great for the one screen interface and unique sound set/function.
3) Mitosynth. My unsung hero for wicked evolving pads. Though Mitosynth both wins and loses in UI. It looks fresh and appealing, but navigating is no where near as simple as LaPlace. Regarding sound though (pads at least), Mitosynth holds it's own.
Recently got back into gadget anticipating arrival of a new ipad that will better handle the load. Indeed they are highly compelling . Not that short on editing really, especially given what is able to be done so beautifully with it's incredibly smooth automation.
Tera Synth has the most "Juice" from all iOS synth without FX. Second would be NLog for me.
Stop Press: @DaveMagoo you are so right about Kiev. It's very maluable.
Once I started taking the preset patches to the extremes of their pitch (up and down) and really messed with the FX it started becoming a really interesting sound making machine.
As with all the Gadget synths (IMO) the key is getting as far away as possible from the presets which I personally find quite cheesy a lot of the time in Gadget.
Cheesy and easy to overlook as a result, Phoenix is lush!
I like Alchemy, doesn't always sound good when pushed but has some really nice granular pads and acoustic sounds, it's limited on parameters as well but load different samples into the preset templates and you can get some really nice soundcapes and drones. Great for loops and rhythmic stuff as well.
@musikmachine I find myself going backwards and forwards with Alchemy. If I haven't touched it for a while it's like sliced bread good and then after a while; toast. I fear Gadget in particular has got me addicted to piano roll fixes and while I like Alchemy's recorder the lack of correction irks me. But....hard to beat for quick automated washes.
@JohnnyGoodyear I once sequenced Alchemy, iSEM, Sunrizer, Galileo and Animoog simultaneously in midiSequencer and saw God. He was wearing a constantly evolving Camel Audio T-shirt
You kids all out there on the interweb smoking your heroin tablets and making fun of theistic harmony with your so-called midiSequencer....wanders off shaking his fist
@JohnnyGoodyear said:
Yeah, but you were gonna do that anyway!
@JohnnyGoodyear agreed about the sequencer, I feel like the short guy who can just see over the top of the fence at a gig! Would like to know if CA plan to unlock the sequencer though.
But for processing sounds it's great plus you can load desktop presets. I've just been going through my alchemy player presets and reminded how good it is for pads.
I'd add wave generator to the list.

Absolutely. Wavegenerator and Wavemapper have incredible tone.
