One Day per Year Sale???
It's already the lowest price it ever was!
http://appshopper.com/music/different-drummer
Just snagged it for £6.99 in the UK. What price was it originally again?
The sale price is $9.99, so I think you got it at the sale price. It was originally $15. As most already know, I highly recommend this one.

Haha, it was a bit more than $15, or even $30 initially. That AppShopper page cuts off the early history. Bit of iOS music urban legend.
Here's some history for you. =P

Yeah....I meant the original price before the sale. I'm familiar with the price history.
Sell it to me funjunkie27!
@musikmachine I think if take a look back through Mister FJ's comments you will see he is a veritable and munificent University of All Things Different Drummer....
how does different drummer compare as a sample based groove box?
I know it must be an absolute bargain of an app but it just doesn't tickle me in the right spot.
Thanks JGY! It's one of those apps that pays off after putting in enough time, but there are plenty of user compositions in the community to help speed up the learning process.
It is different than a groove box because of the degree of control you have with the rhythm.
The dev is about to add AudioShare in the next update, which will make getting samples into DD even easier, along with a easier solution for your recordings.
It has timed recordings, based on time or measures, so it's easy to create loops.
The midi is pretty solid, and you can drive the internal audio engine and midi together or separately.
The last release added the operation panel, which allows you to set any track as the source and any number of tracks as the destination then perform some interesting operations, like clone, normalize, canon, etc. and I've gotten some pretty interesting results from that.
You can also define chord progressions, along with the number of beats assigned to each (similar to GuideTrack) that your sequences will run through. That and Setting individual tracks to different lengths (measures) will help ensure that the composition will evolve almost indefinitely.
Glad to answer any questions you might have.

+1 on this. Both he and @Flo26 sold me on this one.
Yeah...@Flo26 did some great stuff with it.
I forgot to add that it has a pretty flexible manual and automated morphing built in.

same here.
the idea of using it to sequence other things via MIDI piqued my interest slightly, but I couldn't find any online examples of it being used like that that I found very interesting.
If I didn't already own Oscilab (which has some conceptual similarities and remains sadly underused) then I might be more excited I guess.

bah, ok I will have another look
My Soundcloud account has several pieces of me driving other app from DD. Are you looking for audio examples or video? Any videos that show it could be assumed to be the same for driving midi as for the internal audio, as it's just a switch to toggle. Speaking of that, there is a global switch to enable midi, audio, or both, but that can also be set on a per track basis.
Here's a piece with me driving GarageBand on my Mac with DD through my iConnectMidi2 (Christmas gift :-)
Will it sync with Gadget?
cheers for the link and extra info.
I had just found a link to your soundcloud as it happens
I had only seen a couple of basic videos on youtube to see the user interface and MIDI functionality ,etc. I'll take a listen!
It only has options to send clock...not receive. I'll shout out to the dev to see if he could add that though.
@funjunkie27, thanks for that, missed your post. Sounds like a great generative app. AS sells it definitely. Just listening to some demos in the DD thread, a different cry to what i do so i'll have a good listen. Cheers.
ok, I found this one especially interesting. I apologise for my uninformed previous comments.
Here's a YT vid I did..

No worries @bonso.
I think I might indulge. Even though I haven't delved into ElasticDrums yet... But this is also good for driving another synth bassline or melody yes?
Yes
And can you export audio? Is it nicely trimmed loops or do you need to trim?
Thanks. Yeah Gadget can be fussy, won't receive with some apps. Anyway i guess it will only send to the selected clip as it only sends on midi channel as one afaik. Not a deal breaker, just curious about that but the UK Price is £10.49 so has it gone back up or is that with the new tax increase?!
Yes, you can export audio and with trimmed loops using the timed recording function.
@musikmachine...this was a one day sale, so that's probably back to the former price.
Got it 5 mins ago on sale still here
Let me know if you have any questions @Halftone.
I might. So far disappointed it doesn't sync well with Loopy (sending clock to Loopy from DD). But I hear there's an update coming soon so hopefully this is fixed.
Will need to spend some time with this but I like the sound so far. Wish there was a simple delay effect included...
