Video..Arturia CS80V The BIG Soundtest Classic and Iconic Synth
Its so great to be able to play these iconic and classic synths that Arturia recreate so brilliantly. The Arturia CS80V is just sublime, and if you want to dig in and try your hand at programming this beast of a synth you will learn a lot about synth programming, if you can program this you can program anything. But fear not, Arturia have given us loads of great presets to get started.
Based on the Yamaha CS80 which came out in 1977 and was made till 1980. Now there was a synth, it weighed a ton, took four of us weaklings to move it round the studio (we hired one for a few weeks). It had to be on for at least an hour before it was useable and even then it would drift out of tune, but it still became one of the best loved synths of all time, even now they fetch serious money and back in the day a new one would cost you way over $6000.
Vangelis used this synth a lot and is responcible for that classic brass style lead Vangelis used in many tracks.
Buy this and you are as close to owning a true piece of synth history.

Fantastic! It has a lushness and character all its own. I remember the first time I heard one - on UK's debut album - and it absolutely blew me away! I had not heard anything like it before, and in some ways, nothing like it since. Now what we need is the IOS version! (I had to say it, didn't I!)
Love the CS-80V Doug @thesoundtestroom - and - with an XKey25 for example, one can apply polyphonic aftertouch too ;-)
I hope that it gets ported to iOS, along with all their other stuff, I think I mentioned in another thread that I will maybe do the Jupiter 8 next, I will do them all eventually though
