hah, funny. some sort of glitch. The Lite version has always been free. and the Pro version is $25, sometimes on sale for less.

I guess it makes the pro version look like a bit of a bargain.
they had 999 for some time (as per appshopper), probably it was broken and this 'forced'user not to buy it for time needed
Or they want to leave it up so any purchasers will be able to redownload it...
One time I was looking at a list of MIDI apps and that damn $999.99 was on the screen and I almost bumped it! Sometimes you get an additional confirmation prompt or two but not always. That would have been an interesting conversation with my wife...
Some developers hike the price up to ridiculous amounts when they don't want people to buy an app yet (like an alpha version). Strange tactic though.
Replaced the Lite with the 12, price is to keep it available for updates but not for sale. According to Dan.
Hi everybody. Thanks for the question and thanks to everybody who answered and discussed. Sorry to get here late.
The answer -- which has already mostly been covered -- is here: http://midiDR.com/999 and is also the first hit on Google for "MIDI Designer 999" (no quotes). Basically, we're trying to keep the upgrade path open for existing users and disallow new users.
I'm not completely enthralled by this confusing state of affairs, of course, but the alternatives available aren't perfect, either.
I apologize again for the confusion, and thanks for your interest in MIDI Designer. Please hit us up with questions or comments here or via http://midiDR.com/contact
Thanks again (again)

It's confusing, yes, but I think it's a solid move for your existing customers.
Nice to have you here.
I love Midi Designer 12, but I need a manual. Can't figure out how to send program changes.
Also, if 1,000 people buy it, that's a million dollars.
We're really excited to announce our new manual for MIDI Designer:

And to celebrate, MD12 is free. Please check out the latest article here: http://www.musicappblog.com/midi-designer-update-4/
Thank you,
Dan

Hi Dan ( @MIDIDesigner )
Thanks for being here. Love your app.
Can you make your Midi Designer apps run continuously in the background please? Otherwise when you switch between apps (in iOS8.3 certainly) you get a sound glitch as midi designer reloads each time.
Thanks.
Matt
Thank you very much. I see you have a manual now. Very cool. Will check it out today.
