After further review.....Music Studio
Perhaps a series of posts (by anyone who wants to use the first three words and append the app of their choosing), prompted by going back to Music Studio and trying to see if I should keep it or delete it.
The TL;DR is: Has lots of good things going on but nothing that seems to get over the hump of the available competition, but I do love the drum pads for playing other apps on, especially synths. Still, seems hard to justify keeping it on the iPad in light of its size.
The TL bit? No real need from me, but if any one wants to argue the toss/play Devil's Advocate, please go right ahead.

I only keep Music Studio around as an instrument source... it may not have the best sounds, but in the right mix they can tend to work well.
Using Music Studio, I scored my first orchestral piece in about an hour. Can't beat the one stop shopping appeal for composition. Don't know of any other app that makes it so easy. And the Sonatina soundfonts are nothing to sneeze at. Maybe a polite sniffle, but no more.
Don't give up, JG!
