Get inside a folder when file-sharing?

edited January 2015 in General App Discussion

Ipad hooked up to computer. Backing up, syncing, transferring purchases etc.

Now I want to have a look on my computer at all of the files (waves) that I've created on the iPad. But problem: I can only see files that are not in folders. I am unable to get into any folders by double-clicking on them.

How do you get inside a folder when file-sharing?

That's what most of us use...

  • He's right. Good luck.

  • Does iPad have to be jailbroke?

  • And does this mean that it's impossible to enter folders when exploring an iPad during file-sharing in iTunes?

  • Thanks for the answers folks.

  • I had the same dilemma until I got File Browser.

You can go to any folder and file on your PC and pre-listen to samples and then copy them into AudioShare.
However you can do a sample at a time, unless you bounce them into cloud and use the file picker.

I also got emtec wifi hdd that has it's own wifi and you can configure it to communicate...

    Good luck

  • I want to be able to take files from iPad to computer and VICE VERSA. Are you sure the iPad doesn't have to be jailbroken? The blurb from the website linked to above says

" If you want to take advantage of the most advanced features iFunBox has to offer (such as SSH-based communication and file transfer to your iOS device), you’ll need a jailbroken device to installing the required dependencies on the actual iOS device".

  • If only Gadget could address samples inside folders...
    (Come on Korg!!)

  • I save the folder to my computer. I can then get into the folder on my computer.

  • @markk: a lot of apps don't poll the filesystem and realize you have new files there (uploaded from computer using iFunBox or iExplorer) until you restart the app. As long as the directory is exposed by the app, you should have no trouble uploading files there. Whether or not the app can use the file is another question entirely...

Jailbreaking just lets you access more of the underlying file system - iFunBox's note is about being able to do other things like install apps and access non-open folders. (For example, prior to iOS6 you could go in and delete Beatmaker2's included samples to free up a bunch of space without jailbreaking.)

My iPad is not jailbroken and I can do exactly what you want. (Talking music stuff only)
Between PC<>iPAD (need wifi) .... and WIFIHDD<>iPad (makes own wifi)
But for the most part I bring samples in iPad use, keep, delete, whatever...

I've heard people use some wifi card readers with success but can't guarantee that;-)

  • I didn't like ifunbox. I paid about $30 for PhoneView and recommend it as a good way to access files on your ios devices from a Mac.
