Does anyone understand Animoogs randomizing process???
it sounds like it's just a free-for-all, is there any method to the madness?
Comments
I don't notice any method to the madness either. In fact, I flat out avoid it.
Does anyone understand any randomizing process? :-D :-D
i understand seekbeats for sure
Is there any randomize option in animoog?where?
I usually get a patch with no sound when using it.
me too, would be nice if it was like dm1
I love randomizers.
Yes half the times there is no sound, because all the parameters are changed randomly. Just push the button again, how hard can it be.
:-p

Just push the button untill you get a sound that could be usable, then you tweak the parameters to shape the sound to your liking. A basic understanding on how synthesis works is necessary.

Click on Setup/Presets/Random Preset...
RANDOM PRESET: Loads a preset based on a completely random set of parameters
and Timbres.
There is a really good 28 page manual, very detailed, all function explained
http://www.moogmusic.com/sites/default/files/ANIMOOG_MANUAL_5_22_X.pdf
It generally just takes one or two parameter changes to get actual sounds from a random generated preset. And you can go from there to decide if it's going to be useful.
But It is a total randomizer. Every single parameter gets a random value it seems. It's definitely Not a preset generator. So it's more a tool for inspiring you to design a new patch, which is good if you are in the mood for it. But not really an easy way to just find a new sound randomly.

Thanks @soundklinik , I did download the manual and found it.
I find Magellan randomize/spawn algorithms much superior. Most of animoog's randomized presets were silent or not musical (1 out of 20 was useful ,but maybe I was unlucky!)
Just run a sequencer into it and press away on the randomize. It may take a while, and you might still want to tweak it afterwards, but I've gotten some useful presets out of it.

Sounds about right :-) but just tweaking the filter drive and envelope knobs will often bring things into useful territory.
I sometimes catch myself feeling the Magellan spawn is somehow cheating...
If you do not use the randomizer in Animoog you are missing out. If you generate a few times you will eventually get something you like and can tweak it to a nice preset of your own creation

Dum q but how do I quote and then not have my comment look like part of original?

Just hit return/enter once to move to a new line (have a space between the quote and your comment)
I find randomizers can be useful to find sounds that I would not have found otherwise, perhaps due to my limited imagination! Sure, most will require tweaking, and many will be useless, but then you occasionally just get a very inspiring gem!
