Using external synth apps with BeatMaker 2.
When I try to use an app like Addictive Synth with BeatMaker 2, I create a new audio instrument (audio apps) and record away. I end up recording the audio of the part, but what I really want to record is the MIDI information, just like in Cubasis.
Is there a way of doing this in BeatMaker 2?

If the app has midi in, you can play it with Beatmakers internal empty keyboard preset and record the midi data that way. I talk about this half through the video here.

Great stuff, will check it out now.
Very useful vid. Cheers!
Really glad it helped!
Hi Is it somehow possible to play a synth in Audiobus and just record the midi to the connected channel in Beatmaker 2? I'd really would like to play on the synth itself, instead of the one in BM2, because of special features n stuff. Thanks
The synth has to not only have a midi out option, but that port has to be "findable" by BM2...I tested 2 synths, Tera, and PPG Wavegenerator. Both have a midi send or out option, only Wavegenerator was recognized by BM2. (Available ports selection appears on BM2's midi settings page). So with Wavegenerator I was able to record midi notes in BM2 using the Wavegenerator keys.
Case by case it seems, and recording cc info like aftertouch is still an unknown. I know that MTS does record cc info this way, but again not all iOS synths send midi...
Also the test was done without AB involved - using IAA only...putting AB in the chain has no impact on midi data, Tera wasn't recognized whether I used him in in AB or IAA
Thanks a lot for testing and your explanation, tried to record midi from Sunrizer and it's not possible without using BM2's built in synth:

Addictive synth has two ports: Generator and instrument, saw it in Audiobus, guess the (Gen) port should be able to write, I'll test and report. Would be good to have a list for external apps which are capable to write midi
