  • Thanks. These are certainly useful apps in some respects, but it drives me nuts that AmpliTube is 300+ MB for as little as it offers compared to the competition. I have to think that a lot of that is programming sloppiness like uncompressed graphics. SampleTank is gigantic (1+ GB), but that makes a little more sense given the sound libraries it has to store.

    Sale prices are nice, though.

  • It's like choosing which puppies to kill (and over and over again). I like what Sampletank offers, it's that OK supermarket which has a lot of products, but when space gets tight it's always first against the wall.

  • Sampletank is pretty useful, Amplitube has been crushed by the competition though, and is probably the least useful amp sim on iOS.

iGrand Piano and iLectric are on sale too. Both still haven't been updated for the current Audiobus and still have the annoying popups. Come on IK, it's about time for an update now.

  • Weird business to pile them high and sell them cheap without the updates, unless they're just trying to raise some money to pay their developers to do the work...

  • let's just hope it's not a fire-sale prior to abandonment...

I was just going to get three IK apps on this sale believing in a future update as I am on iOs8. But your comment made me stop and think for now...

  • Still can't make Sampletank work with my Analog Keys. Very annoying - all other synth apps are fine.

  • This is more than likely a pre namm sale. The abandonment comment is bogus at best unless there is something to back that up? Why would you say that?? No huge fan of IK here but jeez Loueez that is how harmful rumors get started.

They aren't abandoned, we will have a ton of stuff on sale for NAMM. For other promos (if interested in desktop apps, etc) just keep an eye on http://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/promos

    Thanks

Edit - there's also a SampleTank update being reviewed currently (just posted for review). That may help you, @Michael_R_Grant

@ikmultimedia It sure would be nice at NAMM to be able to show Sampletank playing a drum&bass loop into Audiobus, and a 2nd string in Audiobus with iLectric or iGrand jamming out a Piano part! And maybe a third string in Audiobus for somebody rocking Amplitube. I think you'd sell some apps if you put that on YouTube. Hint hint. You could announce at NAMM that they're all compatible! A party would be thrown here with balloons and ice cream!

  • Thanks @ikmultimedia, good to learn that updates are still on the cards!

Why are you, (IK) updating apps to iOS 7 when iOS 8 is the current OS? Is that a typo or did you (IK) really update to an old OS on purpose?

I will not shout, "Finally!" Instead, I choose the high road in saying thank you for this news, IK Multimedia :)

We are updating for Audiobus compatibility in iOS 8 (otherwise they work great in iOS 8, of course) and not to iOS 7. They've worked in iOS 7 quite well for a very long time.

  • Thanks, understood.

Sorry, @ikmultimedia, not true for some of this forum's Sampletank users. Three recent threads:

    http://forum.audiob.us/discussion/6777/sampletank-problems-with-loopy-hd/p1

    http://forum.audiob.us/discussion/7024/sampletank-plus-packs-or-bismarksoundfont-player-/p1

    http://forum.audiob.us/discussion/6647/sampletank-plus-external-midi-keyboard-problems/p1

I'm in a couple of those threads. Like others, I was on iOS 7.x at the time. Also, from IK Multimedia's own support forum:

    http://cgi.ikmultimedia.com/ikforum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=9221

I did as IK_Peter advised and sent in a help ticket, as did others. Support responded that this was a known issue and would be addressed in the next update. I repeat now that I'm pleased to hear that it's coming. I'm really looking forward to using SampleTank again - it was one of a handful of true "go-to" apps for me until it got wonky with MIDI. On iOS 7. With multiple users. Known issue.

From where a number of your paying customers stand, "worked in iOS 7 quite well" may come across as IK Multimedia being at least a bit disingenuous.

  • Yes, sometimes apps have issues but overall they are working quite well for many many users. I am sorry that you and others are experiencing some specific problems and yes there is an update coming that should sort out issues (as is the case with many app updates, to fix issues that have been reported). I was speaking without any disingenous intent at all, and I'm sorry that it appeared that way to you but again - that was not my intent and the apps have been working very well for the majority of our users and any issues reported are being worked on and will be resolved.

  • Appreciate the response @ikmultimedia. I worked in marketing for many years and recognized your choice of words was technically sound, but seemed to imply all is well on iOS 7. Since that has not been the case for myself and others, I felt compelled to counter that implication and make you aware some might take issue with it.

Water under the bridge once the update drops, I very much hope. As stated here and on the nearby iLectric thread, I really am a fan of SampleTank and, with the caveat "update needed, update coming," have no problem recommending it to others. Above all else, thank you for sharing about said forthcoming update. That news made my day.
