Take midi from Cubasis to BeatMaker 2?
After I create a midi sequence in Cubasis, what would be the simplest way of getting that midi data into a track in BeatMaker 2?

Hey @markk I'm not the biggest user of either app, however I was trying to get midi into BM2 earlier via 'open in' but it wasn't in the list.
I ended up uploading my midi file to Dropbox and importing from within BM2. Because that data is so small it just took a few seconds both ways.
Caveat is that all midi tracks got imported into one single BM2 track. Not sure if that's changeable in a setting somewhere.
You'll have more knowledgeable answers here soon, but that's what I can offer for now.
Cheers Spooky. I'm having trouble finding out how to export a midi file from Cubasis.
ok one sec..... I'll list the flow...
BM2 import likes to import a hot mess thats not broken up into tracks, but still usable.
i'd say the best way is to play cubasis into bm2 and have it record... it'll work, and let you set your tracks up the way you like. just turn quantize off for recording, do that in post maybe.
@markk
Bottom left is a share button. Available on both Project and Midi tabs.
Select your file and hit share and you'll have the options to Email, Dropbox, Open WIth, Audio Copy, Soundcloud, Zip.
A few of those aren't available for either Project/Midi tabs.
^ Good multi-track tip from Zetagy
So I can send one of the midi files that comes with Cubasis, but what about a sequence that I've created? The file extension for anything I create in Cubasis is .cbp.
Oh, didn't see the replies.

You mean record midi, not audio? Great. I'll give it a go.
@markk hmm, you might have a point. I could name and save a separate wav track to the media for export but couldn't find a way to single out a midi part.
Like you say, it exports as a .cbp
I'd be surprised if it's not possible somehow.
yes record midi. old school
apologies in advance
It's not working for me.
I've got cubasis on the input of audiobus and bm2 on the output of audiobus. In Cubasis the midi track is being routed to bm2. In bm2 I created a midi instrument with an empty preset. I'm using channel 1 for cubasis' output and bm2's input and output. Then I go to bm2 and hit record in the audiobus strip. I can hear the sequence being played in cubasis but nothing gets recorded in bm2 (I was half-expecting it to be audio).
Got it. You have to press the record button in bm2 rather than in the AB strip. A few other interesting things are happening which I'll check out. Great tip, thanks Zetagy, Spooky.
yes, its all midi, AB has nothing to do at this point. also, bm2 does not like to receive clock sync so well, so usually i'll manually enter the same tempo, hit record on bm2 first, then press play on the other app after (bm2 is very good with recording in background), then trim in bm2 once I'm finished recording.
Got it. Now to check out the reverse process.
