iSymphonic Orchestra goes universal

Also the price has dropped to $49.99 and the IAP to $19.99. New version 1.1.2 features:

  • This app is now a universal binary, supporting now also iPhone and iPod touch!

    • Big overhaul of entire sound set: Sounds are now based on true stereo sample data, which adds much more depth to them and makes them sounding even more striking than before.
    • Also corrected issues with various individual sounds (i.e. improved attack phases, and replaced staccato sounds).
    • Added one new sound "Full Legato Orchestra" (free for owners of the app).
    • Optimized hardware resource consumption, which makes the app also more convenient on older devices.
    • Fixed screen orientation issue.
    • Minor other software and user interface fixes.

Costly. But thanks for the update!.

  • Very nice but we are missing AB support. Common guys!

  • I'm interested in this one, but no AB no go for me.

  • Oriental strings has also gone universal, this is great. I can free up a lot of iPad space by shifting them to my high capacity iphone. If the iCathedral goes universal, (and cheaper) I'd probably get that too.

Crudebytes (the dev) created Jack Audio, which was a bit of an Audiobus competitor. I doubt that we'll see AB support anytime soon, if ever, and that's a shame. But the apps work well as IAA input and a fairly MIDI friendly...so there's that.

  • As suggested on another thread: IAA to Audioshare > Audioshare > Audiobus = Audiobus compatibility to the destination of your choice.

  • 49.99 represents a price drop?

  • I can barely run a single app into GarageBand via IAA without it freezing up, let alone routing it via AB as well.

It's not just a matter of personal preference, no AB, no worky on my old thing

  • @boone51 Ha! And the original app name was "The Alan Parsons Project." :)

  • For what it's worth- After updating, I experienced a glitch opening midi files from Safari using 'Open in...' (Isymphonic and Oriental Strings) iPad Air 7.2.1. All fixed after a reboot so no big deal.

However, before rebooting I had contacted Crudbyte support and thy got right back to me. Good to know I'm dealing with someone responsive and responsible.

  • Pardon me - Crudebyte. I shouldn't type in bright sunlight.

I tested the new version and they fixed the too-slow attack times that plagued a lot of the presets. In the previous version many of them could not play eighth notes at a medium tempo, and now most of them can. The only ones that can't are the ones that are intentionally slow. Great improvement to the app.

  • Incredible what hugeness one can have on an itty bitty device like my 5s
