How to record midi output of an arp into cubase or bm2?

edited January 2015 in General App Discussion

I'm pretty sure there was a discussion about something like this not too long ago but I can't find it.

I'm trying to record the midi output of the arp from a synth like Magellan, Cassini, Addictive, nLog, Sunrizer. I've tried various methods to record the midi data into Cubasis or Beatmaker 2 with no luck.

Do I need to use an app like Midibridge or is there a simpler way?

  • All of the synths that you mentioned do not produce midi out with their onboard arps. In order to lift the midi patterns from the audio, I would use Midimorphosis in conjunction with audiobus. Play the synths thru audiobus into Midimorphosis, where it will then be converted to midi out. Send that midi out to a daw like beatmaker and record the midi there. If you are sure of the pattern you like, then temporarily switch the synth patch to a simple sine wave so that Midimorphosis can convert to midi more easily... I know it's roundabout but hope it helps

  • Interesting idea. I'll have a look at Midimorphosis. Thanks Zetagy.
