Tutorial for Lemur connections?

I've owned Lemur for a while now, and really really want to use it to control other music apps on my iPad. From what information I've found online, it seems to be possible ... and people are actually doing it even. There's an Animoog template people on this forum were talking about. But how to go about it? Are there tutorials for this somewhere that I haven't found? Can anyone help? I have MidiBridge, FreWi, Audiobus, all that stuff. But I have no idea how to proceed. Thanks!

  • Thanks, I'll check out the Animoog link. As for the Liine links, I've gone through all of those and have not found anything relevant to iPad-only connections. Did I miss something? Is there a page reference? (Really, I'm completely open to the possibility that I just missed something in the documentation. Wouldn't be the first time.)

  • I'm going to shamelessly jack this thread and ask if anyone has any tips or tutorials with using sysex in Lemur templates. I went through Liine's tutorials about a year ago and was moderately successful at creating some basic faders and knobs (although there seemed to be a large gap in the documentation compared to the basic program), but sysex is complex and there is almost no information on how to code it in the manual. I've got a couple of sysex only synths from the 80s that I'd love to revitalize, but trying to use Lemur to do it makes me want to top myself.

I've got mad respect for anyone who actually figures out how to make Lemur templates. I had dreams of making killer templates with it, but it is so convoluted that I'm shocked that so many people have written anything with it. $50 that would otherwise be wasted if there weren't some clever folks who figured out how to make templates for old Yamaha FM synths.

  • There is a Facebook group for Lemur users which has some great tutorials on scripting. I'm sure that if you don't get an answer here you will there.

  • I tried tackling the task of creating my own Lemur templates, with scripts and all, but failed miserably and quickly realized there are quite a few midi controller apps that are far better than anything I could create with Lemur.

I think Lemur has a place though, for those specialized custom templates for different apps and devices. I just wish it was easier to use.

As for connecting to other iPad apps you need to go to the general settings in Lemur, then set the output, then go to whatever app you want to use and connect it to Lemur.
