Any MidiBand users?
I've run across this app in the store more than once. Any thoughts on it? I don't see any videos or reviews.

With Midiband you can load midistyle-files (.sty) and play accompaniment instruments on an external GM instruments synth 'with one finger'), so I tried it (the free version: 'Midibandfree') with the only app I have that resembles such a synth: the Bismark soundfontplayer with the GM soundfont loaded and my Akai LPK25 connected; and (to my surprise) it worked! Midibandfree has only one style: 'Honky Tonk piano' and that uses 4 instruments: piano, banjo, bass and drums and you pick the chords for this accompaniment with one finger... Unfortunately: no audiobus, no IAA, no background midi (so you cannot use a synth-keyboard) and the app crashes (on IOS 7 and 8) when loading style-files (so it's honky tonk forever...). It has Band-In-The-Box-potential though.
Thanks for the report. Sounds like it has potential but isn't quite ready for mainstream yet.
The crash of MidiBand was caused by changes to file management on iOS 8 and has been fixed a while ago. So it's no longer Honky Tonk forever. Also a new version packaged more like a real product and not just a toy is coming out this month. Finally, the coolest feature of MidiBand is not playing back .sty files, but rather any .mid file - but in this case you have to spend 10-20 minutes per file upfront, to lay out the sections.
I really like this app! I love jamming in real time while playing chords on my controller in real time! I get inspired to make songs so much more as I play along with virtual musicians!
This is what I wished Session band was from day one.
I hope they fix all the issues on this app.
KSH, are you positive an update is coming this month? Will it be a new app or ab update? Thanks.
Info from the site:
"23.04.2015 Author : Hi - A brand new release is coming out in May, provided there will be no problems with Apple approving it. It will have a fully redone interface and some new features like sequencer, background play, etc.
I just did a quick review of the current MidiBand on my iPhone with iOS 8.3 and did not find any features that aren't working. The only issue with iOS 8 that I know was MidiBand's inability to open any files, as iOS 8 stopped accepting relative filepaths. But that was fixed soon after iOS 8.0 came out, a long time ago."
This is great news for all musicians wishing to put together songs in minutes!
So glad it's getting developed as there are so many musicians like myself that use this workflow. We play chords on our midi controller and the App creates a backing track of various virtual instruments such as Bass, Drums, strings, guitars etc. What's really cool is that this can really get your creative juices flowing because all you have to do is start with certain rhythm style, say rock or jazz, then that style will dictate how the virtual band members will accompany your chord progression you play in real time. Of course its not for everyone. Some people hate the idea of taking shortcuts to building a song. But for me, this is so valuable because with family, work, ministry, I barely have any time left over to get creative and put together songs. This is why I'm so glad this app is coming. It'll allow me to efficiently use the little time I have and make if anything, at least the basic structure for whatever song is on my mind anywhere anytime. That to me is so awesome!
Looking forward to the updated version !
It's here. MidiBand 3.0 has arrived. Check it out, including the new sequencer with overdubbing, and a long requested background play feature.
