Dm1 not recognising any midi
Anyone else getting this? Did a hard reset, deleted and reinstalled, nada. Is there a drum app with good sounds that plays nicely with cubasis midi out before I cry?
Comments
Mine seems ok, using air2 on iOS 8.1.3
DM1 seems to be kind of random with its MIDI now. Sometimes it works, sometimes nothing.
I don't have cubasis but I've found that MoDrum has pretty solid MIDI, and even though it's not as extensive with the sounds as DM1, I really the sounds you can get. Especially the kick
Since updating the whole thing keeps crashing on start up for me - ipad2 ios7. It's just left hanging, greyed out in the Audiobus slot, try & start it up & everything drops & bounces back to the home screen. After repeated attempts it gives in & plays ball but is now also dodgy hooking up the midi. Shame as it was very dependable
I love DM1, but it's sketchy as hell from the amount of threads/notes that appear here (and my own on again/off again experience). Haven't really spent anytime with MoDrum, but again, it often gets a mention as regards being a solid and reliable choice. Will take a look. And another reason to go back to DrumPerfect and Beatmaker. Irritating though because for Freddy Fatfingers here DM1 is a good UI/design fit.
It's also crashing when trying to export (audiocopy is annoying too, I wish I could just copy to pasteboard)
It seems like the BPM still isn't quite accurate, and the pitch ribbon glitches if you have any pitch shift set to drums already in the mixer page. Choke works when you are playing a pattern, but if you are just using the pads it totally mutes one of the chokes if you happen to have the playhead (on the pattern) stopped at one of the choke group notes (or sometimes not even? it just seems to mute one and give the other priority). Other apps seem to get this stuff down. DM1 does a lot of things nice but there's so many problems with it too. Wish they'd make the pitch shift on the samples not alias, and also the sample length should be more of a "decay". There also seems to be weird inconsistencies between using mixer mode vs. master on some effects. I get that putting reverb on the master mix vs. putting reverb on each track and then mixing it will sound different, but the volume discrepancy & effect level are wildly inconsistent. Same goes for filter. If this is a linear time-invariant filter, taking all the tracks, mixing, and then filtering should produce the same effect as filtering and then mixing. I could understand some slight differences if the filter incorporates a little bit of distortion/nonlinearities but the amount of effect seems to be waaay greater when you use master instead of mix.
Fingerlab mentioned (on their FB page) they're overhauling the MIDI using the Spectacular Sync Engine, so... maybe yay?
Doubleplus yay if'n we're still living then.
