It has yet to leave me in the lurch.
Your air1 or your firmware?
Ummm, I can not divulge that information.
Seems that everything about the topic is already said?
Tea and biscuits, smells more like jack daniels and gun power, now I'm off down the docks, got something special coming in.
The title of this should be changed to "Bad News for Air 2 folks".
"Waiting for Air 3 with iOS 9 Musician Edition"
Well, this thread is about Michael's huge performance gains for loopy and audiobus. As an air 2 user, this is excellent news. My experience with my air 2 has been good. Most of the glitches I experience also happen on my girlfriends air 1.
What are the performance gains on ipad air 2 vs the current performance on ipad air though?
I understood it that the performance had already taken a hit with apples dumb new threading balls up......therefore are we actually seeing a gain or a slight mitigation of a serious flaw? ie: worse performance on ipad air 2 than air 1 because of the issue even with a workaround?
I get the feeling that this issue mainly affects a few apps like Auria, Gadget and Loopy...
Today I tried Cubasis on an iPad Air 2 with 8 different IAA enabled Apps (No AudioBus as there was no need for that) running at the same time without issues so the 2GB's of RAM is truly a welcome addition. Looks like i will be trading in my old 1st Gen iPad Mini for the 128GB iPad Air 2 Cellular sooner rather than later...
First we were waiting for Audiobus. Then for audiobus 2. Then we were waiting for iPad Air 1 and Air 2 after that. Now we're waiting for IOS 9 to sort out the IOS 8 bugs. There's shed loads of waiting going on in the IOS music scene.
Waiting for uh-oh...

"We wait. We are bored. (He throws up his hand.) No, don't protest, we are bored to death, there's no denying it. Good. A diversion comes along and what do we do? We let it go to waste... In an instant all will vanish and we'll be alone once more, in the midst of nothingness!"
Someone in the audience turns and says, "This is absurd."
and don't forget Samplr
I’ve an idea.
I should preface by stating that I’m not a programmer (since I realised that programming would involve staring at ugly monospaced fonts all day, and designers don’t) (and also learning Forth proved no use at all in the career thing). So, I probably have no idea of what I’m talking about. Less that is never the…
How about a move away from animation in general, for UI use? I mean, like we had to have skeuomorphism and then we didn’t and now we laugh at skeuomorphic anachronism while simultaneously criticising every new flat design UI that’s thrust upon us, perhaps the same is true of anim.
I don’t mean animation where necessary. For example, a display of audio meter / waveform; realtime quantity histogram, video tracking; video synthesis; etc. Those are central animation requirements, and for those uses, it’s all about that anim. No, what I mean is the UI use of animation — the buttons, the disappearing and growing things, the little animation just because it’s possible, to liven things up and if nothing else, show the app hasn’t crashed.
Perhaps we should move toward an age of temporal flat design. Flat design not only in terms of colour and space and shape, but also of time. How about this for a throw down of the glove? How many places could a non-essential, largely decorative, reassuring animation be replaced with (here’s the restriction) no more than three frames. Not four, that’s wimping out. Not fifty. Not twelve. Just three. I say three, because you could think of the animation as act one / act two / act three sort of thing. I suspect that would be sufficient to get the point across, and we the people would get used to this new flat regime. Consequently, we the people would also learn to accept a rigid militarised ration of three frames with absolutely no smoothness or gliding transitioning flow built into the animation. It would be highly obvious we’re seeing a three frame steppy slideshow. It’s the new government standardised thinking. Temporal flat design.
I think that if the public were
bulliedsold this concept of temporal flat design, we’d all accept it.Also, on a side note, is there an equivalent of page-up/down or half-page-up/down on the iPad without having to invoke a scroll?
Apps that are also affected (tested in cubasis, heavy glitches occur when i open the apps edit screen while the sequencer is running):
iMini (not sure about iProphet. Some presets glitch, some not) ------Nave------
EGDR 808+909---------Animoog (well, doesn't work anyway=no sound as IAA)------
Alchemy (this was known to me already, encountered it in Auria as well)
well, here is the latest and greatest:i was working on my first bigger project in Cubasis since i have my Air 2 and though i have to test more,it could be affected by this bug as well. The cpu meter was jumping like crazy with a little more cpu load going on (i used only INTERNAL stuff) and audio started to glitch whenever i opened the inspector (hello graphics...).The problem disappeared when i've frozen two Micrologue tracks.I'll throw my f*cking iLemon out of the window if even cubasis is affected by this }%?|~.^>]|!#<|+|
Sorry but I could not find any clear answer to this : is (or will) the bugs with KORG Gadget running on iPad Air 2 be solved ?
I have an iPad Air with 32 Gb, it was my first iPad and I did a mistake thinking that 32 Gb would be enough... So now I plan on buying an iPad Air 2 with 128 Gb but my main music creation app is Gadget and I want to be sure that I'll be able to use it correctly on iPad Air 2...
Any info on that ?
Nobody knows,Korg doesn't answer, even if there are already a couple of threads in the korg forum about this.
Check out this thread for example and have a look at the video comparison with Mini 2.I'm sure you want another Air 1 with more GB instead of the Air 2 after you've seen this...

It seems that when the history is written the A2 might be recorded as at least something of a red-headed step-thingie.
Now may be the time to start saying the "good news for air2 folks" is that:
The scroll view bug, if not fixed, will hurt resale, I believe, since it makes surfing in Safari crazy annoying.
But the way the big boxes were attempting to dump Air 2s mid December at discounts I had never seen before on an Apple product also gave me a sign that resale after launch of air 3 might be lower than usual.
I know this might be answered elsewhere on these forums but does all this mean it's actually better to get an iPad Air 1 right now if you intend to use an iPad for music production?
You can get iPad Air 1's pretty cheap right now but I hesitate getting a tablet that's 17 months old even though it would be a huge upgrade from my day one lemon iPad 3.
I guess what I'm asking since it seems to be universally agreed that the iPad Air 2 is less than ideal for music production would the iPad Air 1 be the way to go or would it be better just to wait and see what Apple has in store this fall?
I think what you want @shortbus is iPad Air 1 running IOS 7. I bought one from the seller called Photodeals on eBay UK they sell brand new US imports. I don't know where you are and whether they still have them but thought I'd throw this info in the mix.
Ah sorry, the comment ^^^^^^ was actually meant for @Paulyboy
So far no glitches on my air 1 with gadget , I have only been running eight or so tracks so far though. I am on my way in moments to a sectional hockey championship and will try more when I return and report but that might not be until tomorrow perhaps.
