Next big sale?

Hi when I bought my iPad at Christmas there was a lot of good sales on the apps, I bought a good few and missed out on some. Any ideas when the next sales usually happen, I noticed auria is 50% off but I've got my eye on cubasis amongst others?

  • If you wish to find the sale history of an app try http://appshopper.com if you search for the app you're looking to get, you'll find a past history for that app.

  • That's helpful thanks.

  • I thought they'd be some new year sales but there was hardly anything. It's been a bit of a subdued time so far this year for me, music app wise.

  • There's usually a bunch of apps on sale around December, but some apps have sales on the dev's birthday, or if an app's anniversary is coming up. Sometimes just before a big new release, such as with Auria right now. They are releasing Auria Pro which will also bring in a bunch of users who were holding out for midi sequencing.

  • @martygras yes I just bought auria in the half price sale as the pro update looks really nice, just need a couple more synths now.

  • @Thesim - be sure to create an account on AppShopper - then you can wishlist items and have it email you when the price drops!

Too bad it doesn't track IAP prices...

  • Another alternative that I use is AppZapp (pro). You can set price alarms and view the price history there too.

  • There's plenty of good low cost synth apps. Animoog, Thor, Z3ta, Korgs, and the like may be worth waiting on sales but they're all worth the asking price.

Sunrizer, Laplace and FM4 (as examples) will take you a long ways into synth land without very much outlay and without having to watch/wait for sales.

  • @syrupcore after doing some research I've come across some well priced synths, I picked up Cassini yesterday. I'll wait for anything over the £20 mark to go on sale, I picked up Thor for £3 at Christmas which seems great value for the quality.

  • Cassini is really powerful. Be sure to check out the videos on the Ice Gear site and the video Tim @ Discchord put together if you haven't yet. Also, the crazy cheap Sunsine preset pack is about 100 times better than the default presets.

  • Thanks for that syrupcore I haven't seen them yet so I'll check them out.

Funny you should say that because of all 11 packs that I currently have for Sunrizer the Default pack is my clear favorite by far,not sure where I found them but several were free. I do like sunshines stuff just not as much

  • For Sunrizer, I'm tweakingmy own patches off of the presets, especially for playing live during our worship services. Like Pads, lush strings, bellish pads etc...

    Will check that, thanks.

  • @tritonman, agree on sunrizer: the sunsine presets don't stand out particularly compared to other free libraries or presets I create myself, seeing as it's so easy in Sunrizer. In Cassini though, his presets are Oberheim Matrix-12 to the app's default Casiotone MT-32.

  • Just to note, the videos on the ice gear site are for both iphone and ipad (which is cool!) and very short. Think there are like 5, each under 2 minutes but very illustrative. You will say 'Wait, what?' at least once.

Tim's is more of a deep dive. He does a great job of pointing out some of the frustrations with synth if I recall correctly (the front page knobs being pretty much useless in particular).

And because I can't help but say it out loud on the Internet as often as I smell excuse: Cassini's Delay 2 is like finally getting a slow warmed-oil testicle massage from that girl in school who you knew would love you if she just got to know you.

  • I didn't see that on any menu.

  • Just watched the ice gear vids and said "wait, what" more than once and then went off to play for 5 mins intended. One hour later I've had to drag myself away, really enjoying programming Cassini especially creating sequences in the arp.

Fabulous! I only read this forum for the poetry!

  • I've been waiting for months for Z3ta, WaveGenerator, WaveMapper, Sunrizer, and Grain Science to go on sale. According to AppShopper the developers never lowered the price, But I have plenty of apps to tide me over. :)

  • Sunrizer is good enough I doubt it will ever go on sale especially given how inexpensive it is at the non sale price.

  • appshopper says Sunrizer went on sale twice in 2014 all the way down to $2.99 so it has happened. It was on sale several times in 2013 also but the sale price wasn't as low. The thing about app sales is you just have to be patient and wait for them. Regardless I agree this one is worth the full price.

  • There's an insanely long list of sales going on right now at

    http://www.thesoundtestroom.com/extras/app-sales/

Everything VirSyn, plus Positive Grid, IK, and more. No Sunrizer, but as it's been said, that one's more than worth full price! Plus it's coming to Mac, support that guy!
