Thanks @Matt_Fletcher_2000, the opinion of people about it is important to my. The advantage of this system over bluethoot or wifi, is its low latency, and especially its reliability, without jitter. Also allows to link different systems (OsX, iOS, WIndows, Linux, Android ...) without worrying about drivers or network protocols.
Not sure I need something like this or not, but wondering if there is any way to sneak a USB hub in the mix? So, one iPad connected via CCK/USB to one end of this device, the other end of this device connected to a powered USB hub (where you could also connect a USB keyboard, audio interface, etc.), and then USB hub connected to other iPad via CCK?
Each end of the "MIDI USB-USB" is a USB device, so you have to connect to a USB host, no matter if there is a HUB or not.
Right, I understand that this device is not a USB host (hence the dual A connectors). But since iOS devices are such a pain with the single port, using a USB hub is often necessary to get everything connected. So you are saying that a USB hub will work with your device then, like in the setup I described above?
Yes, works although there is a USB HUB.
This seems like it might be a good option for me since my IconnectMIDI2+ is a piece of junk.
Ok ordered on 9th arrived in UK on 14th not bad now to see if it works.
is it possible that you can make it so that the iPad is charged in some kind of upgrade?
Ok @BiancaNeve .
@kobamoto 8 pin cable is no direct connection to USB. Between this device and the iPad is the CCK, I do not know if there are any USB device that is capable of charging the iPad via the CCK.
I look forward to your opinion @BiancaNeve.
Hi @BiancaNeve / @Aphex
Did you get one of these devices?
Do they work ok? Any stuck notes?
I think I could do with one. If they work . For iPad to iPad midi.
And thoughts appreciated.
@Jesús it looks like you are still doing free shipping to the UK? Is that correct?
Hi yes I did get one. Works pretty well between iPad and iphone. You need 2 usb camera connection kits though.
@BiancaNeve - cool - thank you very much. Thats really useful.
I have 2 usb ccks anyway...
I've tried:
iphone > cck > USB midi > old style din midiplug > female to female din > old style din midi plug > usb midi > cck > ipad
and it works but I get stuck notes and dropped notes especially when sending both midi ccs and midi notes at the same time.
So i'm considering the above... although to be honest i'm finding that midi over bluetooth is pretty fast for most use cases apart from continuous cc sweeps where it tends to lag a bit.
Not actually sent CCs over it specifically. Mainly just as a way of using things like Midi Mind and Changeling.
Ok. Thanks. @BiancaNeve - I just picked up midi mind since you alerted me to it. Looks interesting.
Does anyone know if a manual or videos exist (other than the dev's few) for MidiMind?
Hi @Matt_Fletcher_2000, I feel the delay in replying. For several days it did not come here. Shipping is FREE to UK.
@Jesús
I just bought one of these... looking forward to it arriving and trying it out...
Received and works very well. Pretty much zero noticeable latency as far as I can tell and no dropped notes.
My small wish is that you could somehow switch off some of the ports - but only because TC data insists on sending promiscuously and Gadget receives promiscuously so I end up getting notes 4 times. But this is not in any way the devices fault.
Anyway, it works totally as described and is very useful. Plus came very quickly. So thanks.
Oh sweet! i posted a while ago wanting something just like this. 8)
Oh and if you want a fun multichannel step sequencer that outputs core midi tnr-i is great fun. 8)
