Musical Toys
Just thought a thread of musical toys would be good to have. These are intended to be diversions from music making. I found one today..

Nice thread idea FJ.
DAWS for kids? That's cool. Mine are grown, but there's always the grandkids.
Thanks JGY. There's a lot of them out there, but it might be interesting to hear of those that people enjoy. The one I posted is entertaining....and free. Good fun for a short while, at least.

Record your own sounds.
"...play sounds in mid air using the iPads built-in camera..."
Sample voices are micro-tonal.
Time for some Sock Puppet Industrial Noise.
IAPs still on "Christmas super sale" (12 extra sample slots)
You'll probably want to mute the "cute mascot bunny Lalabee" intro.
Not meaning to belittle the serious music-making apps, but I kind of consider every one of them a toy, in that they are often a joy to use and bring the fun to music making (Air 2 glitches aside). The fact that they can be used for actual music creation, production and performance is a rather cool bonus to me.
Having said that, here's a game to improve your rhythm. It's so bad, it's...no it's truly awful, but I enjoyed playing it regardless:

Fingertip Vocals.
"Musyc", is such an interesting concept, but the results are not musical. Well, depends on what you call music, but still...
+1 for workbench!
Okay, just noticed this app and it's currently free (not sure for how long). Haven't played it enough to know if I like it, but it says it's a music-based puzzle game, so it seems only right that I mention it in this thread. I like its minimalist aesthetics.

Sonicscan touch, this dev has a few apps out, quite unique, sometimes go on sale too.
Noteplex, old app that hasn't been updated in a while but one of my favs for just noodling around in, has got quite a big work surface. Here's an old vid by vj franz k going through it, is a bit long.
Soundythinge, very odd app but quite enjoyable, is a website called http://www.creativeapplications.net that used to have a lot of more experimental apps featured, lots of art and music apps, so it might be worth going through older posts, especially 2010-2012.
There are some really great apps on this list.
May I humbly suggest KinderKlavier the vintage toy piano for iPhone and iPad, and Chord Organ the vintage electric reed chord organ for iPad?

Both are my attempts to share and immortalize the musical toys that always inspired me as a kid.

Bebot, NodeBeat HD.
