Update to AudioStretch coming soon (now with video)

Just got this in an email from the developer:

I've just submitted a new version (3.5) of AudioStretch to the App Store that includes support the Document Picker, an iOS 8 feature that allows direct access to iCloud, Dropbox, and AudioShare. It also has support for uncompressed wav export, and improved audio quality (especially on transients, e.g. drum hits).

Still no AB but I've asked him about it so hopefully it will come in a future update.

Comments

  • FYI I just got early access to the new version and using the document picker works really great. You are able to open files directly from your AudioShare library and also save directly into AudioShare as uncompressed wav.

  • This is a great app, in my view. Try 'scanning' through vocals with it - you can get some great 'vowelisms'. Look forward to the update.

  • I'll post a video showing the new features when I get an OK from the developer (don't want to post video of an unreleased app without permission).

  • @Peter321 Would like to see that if you get the OK. This app has sat quietly unopened on my back pages, but the thought of it does nag me from time to time. @Igneous1 thanks for the idea.

  • AudioShare integration will be great, I'll get it out of the cupboard when that's added.

  • Yeah I'm a fan of this app, AB would be great to record direct from the app + FX

  • Here a demo:

Btw, the developer has told me that AB support is high on his todo list :-)

  • @Peter321 Thank you Mister Pete.

I loved @redskylullaby 's video demo of this app where he was playing it live in all sorts of cool ways. Unfortunately it seems like there's still no way to record live playing/scrubbing (apart from out of the headphone socket) until AB integration happens.

  • Thanks Pete, looking forward to this release. Audiobus import/export is great news.

thanks Matt. The smoothness in the way the pitch and speed can be changed on samples is what will make this great if Audiobus is added. you can already do "open in" from other apps its just getting the audio out that needs work
Here is the video of me messing about

  • Very cool. This is what the developer wrote to me yesterday:

"AudioBus is very high up on my to-do list. A lot of people have been asking for it, on forums, in support email, and in some user reviews too. "

So seems like it will definitely come :-)

  • FYI, got this in an email from the developer yesterday:

"Good news: I've got AudioBus working in AudioStretch! Even managed to pass audio from AudioStretch, through an effects app, and into a recorder app (the latter two apps being "AB Filter" and "AB Receiver", sample applications that come with the AudioBus SDK).

It's quite likely it's broken some things - e.g. export, behavior AudioBus is not being used, handling of interrupts from incoming calls, etc. - so I've still got lots of testing and debugging to do. Nonetheless, it's very encouraging.

AudioBus support definitely won't be in version 3.5, as that version's already submitted for review and has enough new features already. So AudioBus will more likely be out in version 3.6, with a beta available maybe late next week."

  • @Peter321 Thanks for the heads up.

  • Great news...

I love the fact you can sustain a tiny fragment of audio (and change which fragment) in what sounds like a much smoother way than the 'bow tool' at the smallest setting in Samplr (which kind of pulses as it loops even at the smallest setting).
