  • DrChris, sorry I didn't see your post for this before I made my post.

  • I took the plunge. Very good fun to play with and yes, as the spiel says, it's easy enough for a six year old to use. There is no real depth to it, yet, but it does give rather a lot of freedom in the manipulation of sounds. What it doesn't have, as far as I can tell, is a way to start and stop the thing! It just plays.

It's more useful for quickly coming up with melodies than beats, and in that respect I'm not disappointed. I'd say it simplifies the process of tweaking a patch and is definitely worthwhile for experimenting without an initial idea. Haven't hooked up to MIDI yet though, where presumably it'll do a lot more.

Hopefully the developer will keep on top of this. Good start anyway. Nice.

  • I messaged the dev, asking if there is any way to start and stop the sequencer , as @sickmoth says, it just keeps running.
Also I haven't found any way to alter the preset rhythm or sounds in the beat. Maybe the dev has plans to expand on the 1 included beat rhythm and soundest, but I would have liked much more flexibility in the beat area.

  • Pepp Hi Graeme! Thanks and glad you like it! As far as patterns go, there is only ONE editable pattern which is the one in the sequencer. The melody slider controls what notes/chords are played on each sequencer step. The articulation slider controls the velocity pattern for the sequencer. As far as the drums go, the Beat slider controls those. The sound slider controls the oscillator configuration which together with filter, edge, envelope and a few other sliders control what the synth sound like.. Also the melody i dependent on the tune slider as well as the key and scale selected in global settings. Oh, I should really finish this Pepp manual

gsm909 I like the control system for creating the synth parts, but I would like the possibility to alter the beat settings with a similar level of control (that would maybe require another tabbed page for rhythmic alteration and control). Anyway, thanks for responding. Oh, is there a sequencer stop/start?

Pepp Yeah I will be looking into that! Right now there's no stop/start.. There simply wasn't any room for it! I will look into that too!

...so the reply from the dev is looking hopeful on both the start/stop and beat manipulation.

  • so what exactly is Pepp?

    Vigor vim vitality and punch

The ability to act on a sudden hunch

Nerve to tackle the hardest thing

Feet that climb and hands that cling

A heart that never forgets to sing

    That's pep

Sand and grit in a concrete base

A friendly smile on an honest face

A spirit that helps when another's down

Knows how to scatter the blackest frown

    Love's it's neighbor love's it's town

    That's pep

Say "i will" for you know you can

Look for the best in every man

    Meet each thundering knockout blow

Come back with a smile 'cause you know

You get the best of the whole damn show

    That's pep (6 times)
    You know that's pep

  • We're all Devo…

  • Sounds more liked a ginned-up roaring twenties anthem :)
