    hm, i wonder what happens if you dither 24 bit stuff down to 16bits and then go for mp3 or aac ...

    apple said don't do this - but go from 24/96 to aac, I thought so

    so that means only downsample and dither (if you think that does something for you) if you go for CD/LP :)

    No, that means Apple will apply their own dithering as part of the MFiT program when they make the AAC's on their end.

    Dithering only is needed when you go from 24bits to 16 bits (or 32bits to 24bit, depending on who you ask). Doesn;t have anything else to do with any other type of conversion, nor is it detrimental in any way.

    Like I said, the least important aspect of making music getting the most discussion LOL.
