Drum machines
Thinking of what might be a good fit with drum pads. Does anyone have any recommendations. I have an Alesis DM5, but I'm looking for a more portable option. One that I found recently is...

Not sure when it might be available though.

That thing looks pretty nice. Are you looking for something like that that has drum sounds on board or is MIDI only ok? A little price but I had use of an older version of this unit (SPDS) for about a year and loved it. http://www.zzounds.com/item--ROLSPDSX
Good sounds and the pads along the top are really a bonus; it's very natural to hit hats and cymbals up there. The older version is much cheaper on the bay.
If MIDI alone is enough, you might look for a used original octapad or something.
Thanks @syrupcore. The Roland is more expensive than I want to spend. MIDI only should be fine. I'll take a look at the octapad.
I've yet to play one (and am not a drummer, but have looked into this for a while), but the Drumkat is often regarded as being the best pad controller out there. Used ones go for less than the Alesis you linked, and the company (Aleternate Mode) provides upgrades for a fee, so you could get a basic one and upgrade as you need to. It won't help if you're looking for something that plays back samples, but for midi it's worth considering.
Thanks @Accent. I'll add this to my research list. The price is a bit beyond my limit, but I saw some on eBay that were reasonable.
