Korg Gadget: 2 Highest Quality - Best Synth Gadgets
In your opinion, which 2 Gadget synths are the most high quality and your favorite?
1 - Chiang Mai. It has a warm and rich sound that is surprisingly flexible. It doesn't have the hollowness found in some other Gadgets.
I am not sure about the 2nd. That is the purpose of the thread- I have not spend the necessary time to really exhaust each of the Gadgets depth. I value all of your opinions.

I must say, the Korg sounds well! But it is this Korg Gadget I don't think its interface friendly for me to have fun! That is the reason I continue to wait for better electronic music apps to elliminate Korg Gadget! Come-on! Where is the IAA/ Midi channel sync support? They are absolutely delaying you and me to have full joy by using Gadget!
I have had full joy with gadget. Export stems to auria, best of both.
I love phoenix and the semi modular one (sorry, forgetting the name). But I think they all sound great. The chip tune one isn't my cup of tea but it sounds good for what it does.
Probably Berlin and Wolfsburg for me, although I like Kiev for pads a lot too. I think they are all good, and a nice balance between simplicity and flexibility to create the sounds you are looking for quickly and easily.
Have you used Gadget with Cubasis?
That really isn't a big deal all things considered. It is relatively easy to sync, recording 1 or 2 gadgets per track.
Interesting to hear about Auria.
Miami thru Effectrix is also very useful.
I also have full joy with Gadget. The stems thing made me very happy. As does Abu Dubai (if only they could/would increase the sample length from 5 seconds). I like Chiangmai as well and Helsinki (especially when automated), but favorite/most used by a country mile is Stuttgart.
EDIT: ARGHHHH NOT STUTTGART SALZBURG.
The gadgets I seem to be using the most are Chicago and Glasgow, but I'm partial to a bit of Berlin too.
what dou you like best about Stuttgart?
Besides London...
Chiang Mai and Helsinki
Chang Mai and Bilbao are my go to devices
what dou you like best about Stuttgart?
MY mistake. Again. I Mean Salzburg not Stuttgart.
And I like lots of things about it but especially the Cinema Piano and especially, especially the human feel that I can get via the microkey for different velocities...I love Gadget, but I'm not really a 'dance' guy, so I want the capabilties it offers of workflow, but I also want ways to get downtempo/other feels....
ah Salzburg. for a moment I tought you had a secret underground gadget that I wasn't aware of
Salzburg, I think, will be one of the main reasons for me to upgrade to iOS8 one day ...
(along with Forge and Ulysses, if anyone's interested. they're not music apps though)
I can't do anything in Gadget without Berlin for bass.
Least favorite are Brussels+Chicago
Like Ulysses, don't use it much, but mean to. Forge has been on my radar and looks cool. Do you find it useful (or better put, in what areas do you actually use it?)
Full joy over here too. I think generally gadget can't be compared to beasts like Animoog but holds its own in the mix. My favs are Dublin and Phoenix but digging Abu Dhabi the most at the mo.
1.Phoenix
2.Berlin ....but i like pretty much all of them except Marseille.
I think it shows how carefully planned Gadget is that different Gadgets appeal to different users.
@JohnnyGoodyear
I find Forge awesome for sketching out ideas that get through iterations, best tool for it
I also intend to use it for story boarding for small animation projects, it's a really well designed app that allows for a lot of flexibility
And how do you attain full joy with Gadget or is that a euphemism?? ;P
Yep. Full joy here too.
Good thread.
I chop and change in terms of my favourites but at the moment favourites of the synths:
Dublin - for subby bass
Helsinki - for pads and chords
Berlin - for funky leads
Both sampler Gadgets and London I just love / use a lot - but they're not synths.
I still haven't dared update to iOS8 so I can't comment on the Module gadgets.
There is no try buddy.
Phoenix above all, but I also love soloing with Berlin. Chiang Mai and Wolfsburg are two other greats.
Gadget definitely has the fun factor down. It's one of the only apps where if I'm not productive whatsoever, there's no frustration. I love how there are very quick ways to attain genre sounds, right there and obvious. It's fun to goof off and see the dissonance in adding something from the Brussles or Miami gadgets in on some softer melodic stuff.
I like the way there is actually a lot of depth - while still retaining simplicity.
After a year of use im pretty confident knowing exactly what every single last thing really does in some of the gadgets (Helsinki, the samplers and drum machines, Marseille, Phoenix, the Bit Tune one etc) but I'm still not 100% on every function in Chaing Mai and Keiv and I need to experiment more with the modular / routing in Dublin and Wolfsburg.
Dublin for sub. Kiev for ghosts.
I also think Tokyo is fairly overlooked...
I love Bilbao, Dublin, Salzburg and Berlin... cannot choose only 2 sorry...
At the very least I wish they all had a delay.
Now THAT would give full joy! ;-)
But keep in mind that when the stems go to auria they do all have a delay. Too bad a computer is needed in between (unless you want to do Dropbox and wait all day)
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 @mrufino1 Was playing with the iMPC Pro effects tab yesterday and despite some failings or other wants etc I found myself wishing I could access the same per track tools in Gadget. I keep going back to iMPC (despite the crashes) and liking some things so much, but not ending up making much I like. Intangible but central.....and then I put it away and go back to Gadget and just make stuff (I like).
Inserts ftw!
@johnnygoodyear I haven't used impc pro. What per track tools do you refer to?
