Amplitube Hendrix as effect? I can't get any sound

This morning I bought Amplitube Jimi Hendrix for iPad. Eventually I'll get around to plugging my guitar into it, but what I really want is to run synthesizers through the Univibe chorus pedal. See review at http://guitarinyourpocket.com/2015/02/15/reviews-ipad-ampsim-shootout-pt-2-the-best-univibe-tonestackjamupampkit-etc/

I can make it work as an effect in IAA, but not in Audiobus. It looks like it's working, but there's no sound. The odd thing is, I can see the audio input (from the synth app) in Amplitube; the input VU meter is bouncing around, just like you'd expect. There's just no corresponding output: the output VU meter is static; and I can't hear anything.

What am I doing wrong?

Specs: iOS 7.1.2, Audiobus 2.1.10, tested with iPad 2 and iPad Air.

  • Here's what I learned after several days with IKM technical support:

As of this writing, Mar. 20, 2015, Amplitube Jimi Hendrix works in the effects slot with some apps (IKM support tested iGrand and Sampletank) but not others (for example, NLog Pro). The suggested workaround was to install Amplitube Free, which will import the amps and effects from Jimi Hendrix, and use Amplitube Free in the effects slot. This seems to be working so far.
