  • The DD manual should get you close to understanding the app. There are a few videos on YT and Vimeo that will further reduce the gap, and then deconstructing the wavesets in the community should get you further still.

That's what i didn't do but i thought i had Gadget synced to Poly but with another sending master clock should be able to get things synced up.

Yeah it works with something like Midiflow controlling as a master clock which has less of a footprint than an app like Loopy. I find Midiflow quite useful for these types of situations as you can save a preset.

  • I've mastered locking the scale in TC Data. You use a table. Put in the note numbers for all notes in your scale. So I did C aeolian. Then if you want to go to D aeolian (etc) just team use the "add"function on the table to add 2 semi tones to everything.

That's if you are creating your own patch.

I haven't master the patch transpose feature. It didn't seem to 100% work for me but I didn't try for long.

  • Thanks Matt. I was using a table, but still hadn't nailed it. I'll try your tips tomorrow.

Working on using TC-Data for lead (Z3ta) with DD holding down the rhythm after musikmachine mentioned it. Pretty fun, but struggling with locking the scale in TC-Data a bit.

Is the Transpose tool not working for you? So far, this has made both Data and 11 into really powerful melodic tools.

  • Haven't gotten that far @Fitz. I hope to dive deeper over the next day or so though.

@Fitz - can you explain about the transpose buttons? Do they apply a universal transpose to every single note leaving TC Data? If you press +2 twice does it then add 4? Forever (ie can you save this transpose into the patch?).

And then how about the key drop down? That restricts to a key and scale I guess. So it may mean hitting different notes produces the same not after the scale filter has been applied? I didn't really get the "doh, Rae, me, far " drop down. What's that doing?

I've been using the Transpose function in 11 and it's transformed the app for me. It basically forces it to play in note frequencies instead of those between. The keyboard appears and you can then set the notes either by choosing them on the keyboard or by setting them universally using the Transpose function, which has a few scales.
By the way, in 11 it is the usual A, B and C's. Don't know why it appears as Do Re Me in Data. Normally Do is C, Me is D and so on.
However when I tried using the function in Data it didn't seem to work properly. Data doesn't play frequencies in between the notes anyway, at least not with Midi. But Transpose seemed to act strangely. I didn't have anything worth saving so I just deleted the app and now it works exactly as 11. Don't know if you're having the same issues.

  • Thanks @Fitz. Maybe I am. So deleting and re installing Data meant the transpose functions got fixed in Data?

  • Yes. I'll let the dev know as it may be a common issue.

  • Great, thanks @Moderndaycompiler!
