What is your favorite VirSyn synth app?
I have Addictive. It never really got me to excited. I'm not sure if I gave it a chance. I just found that the presets were so limited. The flexibility of the waves are great along with the ARP options.
While the VirSyn apps are still on sale I am interested in your favorite VirSyn synth app and why? Wondering if any others are worth getting .
Side question, is there a major difference of the quality of Arctic Keys and Arctic Pro? If so, what? What is your opinion on Arctic pro? I got Keys but it seemed too similar to Sunrizer or a variety of caliber of synths. The step seq. is great, it is the type of sounds not quality of Arctic Keys.
I have a spare $14 or so and am looking to waste it on another totally unnecessary app.
Comments
Addictive for me - I've got nearly all of their synths but for some reason this is the one I usually pick to use
Tera, because of the great presets.
What sounds are you most fond of?
I deleted it and was going to re-examine and experience it tonight.
Tera!! All the way!!!
If you buy arctic or arctic pro I think you will be unhappy with your purchase. If you want to waste it like you stated you will succeed.
Tera looks good, I'd buy it if I didn't already have too many other synths ( sadly including arctic pro).
I would personally hold off for the release of Synthmaster Player, and maybe have enough money left over to buy an expansion for it. It's supposed to be out by the end of the month.
Been saving my cash for synthmaster as well, It does look like fun but then I already have Tera, Addictive and Micro. Addictive is my favorite of the three I would have to say as well.
I keep checking for synthmaster daily. Nothing yet!
The Devil on my shoulder says it's time for something new....
I don't really use the presets - I tend to hit the randomise button and then tweak the waveforms and ADSR. I've got microTERA as well and some others I've forgotten about.
I tend to feel the same - I don't really use either much these days, though they do play nicely with an older pad. They're like a lot of iOS synths - a bit on the sharp and tinny side. The VirSyn sequencer is great though. There's been bugger all happening this year so far, definitely time for a new synth.
At the moment synth-wise it's either Nave, Thor or iSEM for me.
I wasn't crazy about Addictive (loved the arp though). Picked up Tera on sale a couple months back and I think it's one of the better synths I have now. And yes, tons of great great presets!
Me too!
iVoxel, quite unique. I've got Cube too, bit while it looks great, I've yet to get anything great out of it yet (could be more my fault) and some of the presets are far too loud.
I forgot about Cube, I have that one too and it is also very nice!
I am a huge fan of all Virsyn synths, I have Tera3 and Cube on PC.
I can't really pick one. I use microTera, Tera, Cube and Addictive every day.
I've got them all, I like Tera the most because of the depth and insane routing options. I like the clean layout too. Also a fan of their Envelope Generator layout (specifically it's sync and lock features). Yeah I like Tera a lot. I agree with everyone complimenting the arpeggiator too.
Harmony Voice sounds wonderful to me. It's not a synth and has a somewhat limited purpose, but it achieves this purpose well.
I’m a fan of iVoxel (even making my own voxels) and Harmony Voice, and I also have Tera, which reminds me a lot of my Arp 2600 (except Tera works).
What do you use this for most/best?
iSyn Poly's sequencer is wacky, too. I like how easy it is to turn all forms of quantize off and the writing functions to change modulation and stuff like that. The internal sounds are a bit limited but the sequencer's fun.
@JohnnyGoodyear I use Harmony Voice for vocal treatments solely. Also running random stuff from youtube through it. I'm always impressed with the results (they sound warm).
Backing vocals, wot I done myself.
I then heavily effect them to smear the syntheticness of raw Harmony Vocals.
I've enjoyed playing around with Addictive. Haven't used it on a project yet, but between the arpeggiator and drawing waveforms, I've happily spent hours exploring.
The draw feature adds a lot for sure!
One thing that they all do: the assignable modwheel in their mod matrices [are] the y axis on each key on the keyboard, for each seperate note, like the blades in Nave and Animoog, as many modwheels as you got fingers
I appreciate the feedback.> @telecode101 said:
For what kind of music/genre for what sounds/presets?
THANKS
I think you can use it for lots of genres. I usually don't use presets as is. I will listen to a song with a synth I like in iTunes and flip back and forth between iTunes and Tera and try to get it. I either build from scratch or grab a preset save it as another name into "Other" category and customize it. What I like about Tera is its got 3 oscillators and the mixers and filters and effects and you can really get into the nitty gritty details of it. You have to read the manual though else you get lost in circles. Excellent doc! Maybe not something I would recommend if you want pre-sets. The thing is, if you use presets you will have sounds like a lot of other peeps on SoundCloud.

Awesome post in every way. I just posted something similar about imini. The constant search for buying more synths I think in part stems from thinking that the new synth can do something an existing one can't because of a preset. Sometimes that is true but very often the same goal can be accomplished with synths y have already.
I think as well as sounding different, they all have different UI's and features so most synths bring something new to the table. Virsyn are good for simple sequencing, Thor and Nave for big, usable sounds, iVCS3 and iMS20 for madness.....I think for the silly prices synths go for it's worth treating yourself for the ships and giggles.
All Virsyn iOS apps are awesome. Especially love Addictive Synth, Tera and Cube. The fastest envelopes in the iOS world (and maybe desktop too). The multi stage envelopes are great too. Hard to find these on an iPad. Also these synths are a lot better for me than the desktop parts (horrible UI and unstable). I would like to buy Tera 3 AU since it's on sale but i can't get even the demo work well.... so i'm a bit scared.
A thing i would love in the iOS version of Tera would be sample import like Tera 3 offers.
But Virsyn created a bunch of awesome iOS apps. I like the company.
