This thing is still fun to goof around with. And it is free.

Anyone bought the IAP unlock? Is it worth it in 2024?

  • @Simon Inwas wondering why this old video was getting views, I’d forgotten all about this app.
Just reinstalled it, yes, it’s really fun, it could have been taken so much further too.
I may make another video, just for old times sake, it’s nice to sometimes visit these old apps.
Another one that still works today.

  • Would love to see that Sir Doug. I always wondered if the folks who put out Pepp went on (under a different name) to do other stuff....

  • The stop/start transport and sync seems to be a bit weird and also there is a slight annoying buzz/crackle you get in many settings.

I am thinking that the IAP (being able to change the tempo and scale and key) would make it more fun.

I’m not getting the buzz/crackle on my old 2017 ipad.

Enjoying this a lot and have just gone for the IAP. I find the in-app recorder seems to crash when you stop recording, but you can get round that by recording the audio to a destination in Audiobus. Musically, it’s fun. Quite different to changes things in the sequencer by taking steps out rather than putting them in. It’s a serendipity app, really; you have to see where it takes you.

It's not like a line mains buzz or feedback or anything like that. It's not actually a "fault", I think it is just a characteristic of the synth engine. If you fiddle with the sliders it goes away in some settings.

  • New video just released from Doug:

  • @Simon Thanks, I was just about to post it here.
Still fun me thinks, the free version is definitely worth a play around with.

I think the IAP might be worth it as you get stuff like BPM, scale, key, ramdom... but the killer question is "when you load it as an IAA app in AUM, does it respond to AUM's transport controls?".

If it does it would be useful to record segements in time with your DAW.

I also see a MIDI switch on the settings screen - wonder what that actually means?

Good question - and I wonder what the Latch button does too.

  • Just tried - it doesn’t seem to respond to AUM’s transport commands.

    OK.

    Thank you for testing it.
