What app for pitch shifting samples?

I have some loops in Samplr that are off pitch and need tuning. Which of the audio editors can do it. I'm after fine tuning app that will render to a new file. I couldn't see it in BM2 or any other apps that I already own. I know I can do it on a desktop but it is being held hostage by my daughter and to be honest I'm quite comfortable in the sofa. Any ideas?

Edit: also audio paste import would be a requirement as iTunes import would require getting on the desktop.

  • Anytune, ASD (Amazing Slow Downer), AudioStretch, Tempo Slow...

  • Cool, I have anytune. Will give it a try. Thanks

  • AudioStretch is pretty great. Twisted Wave is worth a look.

  • Sunvox has a pitch shift/changer. Put sunvox in the FX slot in audiobus and feed what u want.

  • Audio stretch is a thing of beauty. And works so well with Audioshare.

  • Cheers guys. I ended up buying import and pro IAPs within Anytune. Their IAP system is very effective. I must have spent £15 getting different bits one by one.

I tried audio stretch but couldn't find audio share option.

  • Now I got it through open in...in audio share but how do I export it back. Seems like email is the only option @Matt_Fletcher_2000?

  • You might need iOS 8 to get audio out of Audiostretch. I know it uses the doc picker with Audioshare.

  • Mmmmmmm, I'm starting to feel like a fossil.

  • Me too on my iPad. By on my iPhone i am new and modern and all ios8y

  • Hehe, same here. I also have IMini retina on 8 but air 1 remains the favourite, hope not for too long.

  • Also, Hokusai supports pitch shifting.

  • As does Sector. And Loopy I think?

Loopy does time stretching (keeping the pitch).

  • BM2 does pitch shifting in the sample Lab. It's one of the options when you highlight the sample or part of it and press process. There is time stretch, cross fade, etc.

  • Bm2 does it but only in semitone increments. Sector? AFAIK it doesn't but I only had it for a couple of days so could be wrong.

  • I use Twisted Wave. But there's math ...

  • Sorry I'm wrong about sector. It does time stretching keeping the pitch. I got muddled.

  • Sorry to be digging this up again but after having splashed some cash on anytune IAPs I'm struggling with finding wav export. When I choose export tuned loop it only gives me mp3 as an option. Because the rip was originally saved as mp3, then converted to wav in audio share I'd rather not do all that again for obvious reasons. Anyone knows if wav export in anytune is possible? Even If only Dropbox.

I've also tried tempo slow but that's in half tone increments. I'm using audiostretch at the moment but exporting via email and pulling it off email seems a bit of a detour. Hokusai and twisted wave sound great but having spent money on anytune feels painful paying again.

Ah well, unless there is wav export in anytune I'll just stick with audiostretch. Cheers

  • Actually, since email gives an option to open in Samplr it isn't such a big detour after all. Samplr > Audioshare > audiostretch > email > Samplr

But guess what. Audiostretch adds silence on both ends. So add one step: Audioshare on the way back. What a pain in the ass!

Edit: still better than getting my ass off the sofa ;)

Just a heads up, that should be eliminated if you set a loop in Audiostretch. It should export the loop.

  • This puzzled me as well. If A and B are set the loop is precise this end.

  • The a point is set at the start of the loop by default so I couldn't have got it wrong there. When I got the error I re-checked a and b and exported it once more but gaps were still there. I'll mess with it later.
