Stackable USB Cables, no hub needed

Saw this today, still thinking about them myself. You can get them with lightning ends, micro usb and female USBs. I thought I'd seen someone here post a request for something like this a week or so ago. Not sure how useful these would be with the CCK given its built-in limitations.

I think it's a good idea. But considering that USB hubs can be problematic by themselves, and USB devices may not always be recognised by the OS, I have my doubts if this thing will work.

There are some strange things happening at my place (Windows 8.1):

    • USB keyboards like QuNeo or X-Key attached to a hub are recognised by the OS, but don't send MIDI data. This is even more difficult to debug because the MIDI ports are recognised but nevertheless don't work. Very strange indeed. Unplugging and replugging the devices solve the problem, although with X-Key, the X-Key software must run first, otherwise the device will never send MIDI data, even after un-replugging several times.
    • after installing MIDI LE host, an external HD is no more recognised by the OS anymore. Several reboots didn't help.

Just two examples how unpredictable USB can be. I wish there was a reliable interface for devices. I'm not fond of USB, but I have no choice.

after further tests I guess the second USB issue I described with the external HD is a unique, new, strange, and unexplainable problem. The first one however is well known at my place for months, on more than one computer. USB hubs can be a problem for certain devices, this I know since years.

But let's see how this InfiniteUSB will work. A very interesting project.

  • Good idea but I think they seem too short for most of us
