Positive Grid's Pickup App Thoughts
Hi all! Positive Grid just released a new app called 'Pickup' and wanted to know what you all think smile emoticon It lets you record yourself whilst playing guitar, with inter-app audio! What are your likes/dislikes, and what would you recommend to make it better?

Just wanted to know what you all think, especially for the fact it is free
I'll be giving it a try over the Easter weekend, but "on paper" at least, it sounds like an ideal solution for making "guitar demo" videos on iPhone, with sound that doesn't "stink"!
It might be nice to have the option to add at least one more IAA "input" (say, for a vocal) - is there an IAA-enabled mixer app (like MiMix, which ISTR is Audiobus-only)... or, considering where we are, could you add Audiobus capability in future? ;-)
First post. Are you from Positive Grid?
does it even Audiobus?
No.
Can't get it to work. Loads the IAA, tried Bias, JamUp Pro and AmpKit. Sounds fine while recording but on playback sound is heavily distorted, un recognizable. Did a reboot, tried with and without backing track.
Using the iTrack Dock as the guitar interface. Doubt that's the issue but maybe a samplerate mis-match? But it sounds fine while recording?
Disappointed.
I've been waiting for something like this for a while.
@Matthew What gap is it filling for you/how are you finding it?
@JohnnyGoodyear I wanted a simple way to record video of myself playing the guitar with the audio output from JamUp. One flaw I discovered pretty quickly is that it doesn't flip the video when you use the front facing camera, so everything looks backwards. Obviously it would be nice to have audiobus support as well.
@Matthew thanks for the insight.
@Matthew how did the recording sound? What interface did you use?
Sounded fine. I use an Apogee Jam.
Edit: I spoke too soon. Gave it another try and I did encounter some glitches. I recorded a video and when I played it back there was no audio at all.
It's a new type of pickup. You don't have to actually sound cool when you play guitar, you just have to look cool.
Hansel is so hot right now.
meh.
Bummer. I thought this was going to be some kind of pickup modeling app. Change your single coils into humbuckers or humbuckers into P90s or .....
oh! now this makes sense. Record VIDEOS directly with IAA audio instead of the iPhone/ iPad mic. This is useful for quick videos done one a single iOS device.
Thanks Positive Grid.
