  • CS80 or Moog Modular for me please.

    I need some advice please.

How to make Geo Synthesizer or Cubasis control iMini via Virtual MIDI?
    iMini doesn't respond.
Settings are ok on both apps and on iMini.
Some apps control it ok, some don't, for example...
SoundPrism Pro controls it ok. iFretless and iFretless Bass don't...

  • Does it have background audio? I can't seem to control it with beatmaker

Background Audio seems to be always turned on.
    Just tested with BeatMaker.
    Cant't control it neither.
With iFretless Bass and iFretless Guitar, these apps don't show up in the iMini Connections. Beatmaker and Cubasis do, but they can't control iMini.

  • I saw the same problem with Geo until I launched MidiBridge, and it's working now.

  • Setting Cubasis to Virtual Midi rather than iMini seemed to get it to work with that. But no joy with ifretless guitar.

  • In general, iMini will only respond to Virtual MIDI outs of other Apps. Not all have them even though they say they support VM. iFretless in particular. Showing up as a source in MidiBridge or iMini does not guarantee iMini will be able to respond to it. Trial and error as to which Apps will work is the only solution. iMini also does not appear to listen to its advertised VM In. So connecting to it in MidiBridge does not work with anything I tried. iMinu is also Omni mode only, another not good thing.

One has to wonder what their actual test procedure is. Seems to have come from a purely CV mind-set, no visceral understanding of MIDI.

  • One thing: sometimes connecting your source to MidiBridge and then selecting MB in the iMini sources works too.

so,is imini working with cubasis now (via audiobus and virtual midi)or not?

  • edited April 2013

    Yes it is..

  • BM2 works with midibridge

  • For those who don't have Midibridge (like me): BM2 works with FreEWI as well, set BM2 output to FreEWI, and iMini's input to FreEWI.

  • does anybody know how long the offer last?I'm stil not sure,i have so many ios synth now^^

  • I'm not getting it. The Minimoog was a classic, but it's become such well trodden sonic terrain over the years, I'd rather explore something newer or less well known. I have lots of good synths now, any newcomer is going to have to be exceptionally versatile or unusual to get my attention at this point.

  • It does sound good though...

  • Your loss. If you want exclusive sounds, check out Different Drummer.

  • Bad mood today?

I think Animoog sounds slightly better in terms of the width of the sound but the sheer variety of presets, some of which are bonafide classics makes imini an absolute powerhouse of inspiration.

All of the goodness I have experienced from electronic music over the last umpteen years comes back to me as I flick through the presets with flashes of my younger days and that is enough to warrant the £6.99.

A must buy, end of debate ;)

  • I'm with Dave.
    This one is up there
Most of the other synths you've bought pale
    In comparison.

  • Interesting statement. Which other synths have I bought?

  • Every thing that's on the bus.
    I read your posts.
    The evidence is there.
Your a bigger app junkie then me..

  • I really have to agree with the above. It is an exceptional sounding synth in a sea of great synths. Jumped straight into my top 5.

  • iMini sounds great, but it is not as versatile as synths such as Sunrizer or Magellan. But I still think it is worth getting, and I own too many already...

  • Maybe we've all reached saturation point and that sea of synths is starting to drown us.i can appreciate enough being enough.
But if ever you say ok just one more,
    This is it.

  • I agree that Animoog sounds better, but there's nothing else (not even the Animoog) that sounds like the iMini on IOS, including all of those synths with UIs that look like a Moog.

There's a reason why the Minimoog has been used on so many classic records, in just about every genre. Anyone who says that it's played-out probably only has that one stereotypical preset in their head and hasn't heard what it can do outside of prog rock.

  • Not sure if you're teasing or just trying to be unpleasant, but seeing as I've decided not to buy iMini and I have absolutely nothing to prove, I'm going to bow out of this thread and leave you to it.

I've had the Arturia Minimoog VST for years and I've heard from too many hipsters that they're too hip for the Minimoog. But as soon as I play anything off Bob Marley's Legend album (to groans) and point out the Minimoog, they're always like "I've never noticed that synth line there before." and then they immediately go out an get their own copy of the synth.

It could even be said that the iMini is more versatile than the original hardware version because it's polyphonic.

Buy it, don't buy it. It doesn't matter to me. But choosing not to try it because other people like it is silly.

  • Just teasing Paul and I only offer my 5 cents worth if I feel something is that good or if someone's gonna miss out on a decent app.

@PaulB its quite interesting that your profile picture is very Moogcentric but yet you have no love for imini ? Ps: if you read this then you are still tempted ! (No unpleasantness intended, peace).

@commonstookie I'm with you 100% with the saturation point as it was quite an impulse buy for me as I was in app rehab at the time and there was no question in my mind. It was a relapse for sure but its such a nice sounding synth and some of those sounds are just gorgeous.
