Launch Pad and Launch Key Mini with iPad

edited April 2015 in General App Discussion

I've been getting a serious case of GAS that needs feeding and sadly a new app just isn't going take away the burn. So, as I want to get back into a more performance based approach to balance out the time spent staring at a piano roll grid, I've been doing some serious looking at the Launch Pad and Launch Key Mini combo. Before investing I thought it wise to seek counsel from the great and the good on here.

Has any one had any joy running them both with a powered USB hub and the two Novation apps on a Mini 2 with iOS 7.1.2?

I've had the Launchpad and Launch Key apps both running today through Audiobus into Cubasis pretty successfully, recorded ok with some of the new Cubasis IAP fx and I'm liking the results.

What I'm thinking is breaking the tracks I put in the studio into loops that I can jam with/along to using the iPad/Launch set up. Anyone doing anything similar or could recommend alternatives?

I'm also interested in general opinions on how well they work as controllers for other iOS apps or Cubase (plenty of vids demo Live, but not much on Cubase).

I've 10% off at a store and can get them both for £129 (192USD) - which feels like a no brainer.
