Here's Johnny! New Multiwave Tremolo Effect app from Holderness Media
Hello everyone, I've been laying low for awhile dealing with health issues, but I'm finally getting back on track with a new effect app Johnny, which is a stereo multiwave tremolo effect for iPad, and is the newest addition to the Holderness FX series.
Johnny - Multiwave Tremolo Effect for iPad ($4.99 USD)
More than just a basic tremolo, Johnny is capable of producing a wide range of tones including
classic guitar amp tremolo, vintage harmonic tremolo, phaser and univibe like tones, pulsating rhythmic patterns and more.
You can also modulate the rate of the main LFO with a second one to create interesting speed sweeps.
Johnny works great with guitar of course, but also pairs well with synths and vocals, and sounds awesome when combined
with Crystalline in an Audiobus effect chain. Personally I like placing Johnny after Crystalline in Audiobus, this chops up the textures created by Crystalline in a cool way that sounds very synth like.
The music I wrote for this promo video uses Johnny on all tracks except bass and drums, which were the only synths used in the mix. I decided to use a really raw mix for the video by using a self imposed rule of “no post processing, no eq or compressors” for the whole mix, mostly just as a fun challenge for myself as well as to showcase the sounds used in their raw state. Each track was recorded from Audiobus into Auria using Johnny, Crystalline, Caramel, and Echo Pad for effects, and Bias for clean amp.
I have made the Auria project for the track available to download for those who might want to poke around with the mix and solo the individual tracks to hear how Johnny was used on them.
Comments
Great news Thanks, and I would like to wish you the best of luck with your health.
Edit: Wow posted almost an hour now, I can't believe the lack of comments, this is a really big deal another fantastic app from Holderness
Welcome back! Look forward to trying it out.
Super late in the evening for the US folks, super early in the day for Europe. It's the most quiet time of the day, therefore not much is going on anywhere.
??? I tried to buy this, but it said it was no longer available. US store.
Thank you!
It's most likely just the typical but nonethless annoying AppStore wonky behavior during the first hours of an app's release, you'll probably need to just wait a little while and try again until it shows up properly.
Here's another quick little audio demo, just strumming a few chords to demonstrate some of the presets, this should give you a good idea of how Johnny sounds with the guitar. The harmonic tremolo modes are my favorite, you can get some sweet phasey/univibe-ish tones.
Another instant classic,
Thanx HoldernessMedia ,
and good luck with your health.
@HoldernessMedia They say that naming apps isn't really that important, but I can assure you that in this case your decision (taken no doubt after a long night in a crowded smoke-filled room full of demographic specialists) will lead to at least one extra sale
Hope you're well (now).
Here is my demo for this brilliant app, I have it running with AB and with Galileo and ALL the other Holderness FX, chaos, lovely chaos, and many thanks to Chris Rice for sending me a code this morning, I never even knew it was on the way, top job from a top man, and I hope your health is sorted now.

Got it.
Hope you're on the mend @HoldernessMedia!
I love tremolo effects so this was an insta-buy, very nice UI for setting up good souds...and good health to you!
The new gem of a really fantastic dev.
That sound DE-LI-CIOUS !
Thanks a lot Chris, and I hope you are ok now. Cheers !
Congratulations and good health to you Mr. Rice!
Over time you have proven to me your creative talents. I purchased this immediately and will do the same with any apps you make in the future. I hope your health is back to normal.
Can it do daleks?
I noticed this youtube clip of a some daleks at some convention somewhere and thought the lead dalek had quite a sophisticated sounding dalek voice effect.
Very this ^. I can think of 5 developers that fit into the category of 'buy immediately, read later'. Like when a new record by your favorite band comes out—you don't wait for reviews. Luckily, three of the devs don't out out many apps!
Been playing with this. Fine, fine stuff. And I'm not a guitarist. Mister Marr should be very proud.
Lol, can't delete my own posts. I didn't see Chris already posted the guitar demo. Damn, that's a sweet one. I wish I could play the guitar.
Thanks so much everyone for the support and well wishes!
I hope you guys are enjoying the app, be sure to get in there and get your hands dirty tweaking!
I made another quick little demo with Johnny on synth before catching a few hours sleep, just holding a few chords on my JX-3P.
Wahoo! Can I imagine a hardware doing all that ?? Again bravo !!
Thank you!
In case it got overlooked, anyone who wants to mess around with the Auria project for the music used in the promo video can download the project here, save a copy to your dropbox, then import into Auria. I cleaned up all the unused files in the project so the size is pretty manageable, about 280mb. The signal flow and track details are listed on this page.

Congrats on another fine release! As always, I would like to use it on the phone too :-)
very much looking forward to this!
This might be my favorite one of the bunch yet! Great job!
Any plans on adding Johnny to the "Holderness FX Bundle" in iTunes?
Thanks for the support guys!
@Munibeast - Johnny Mini will be out later this month with a very nice intro price.
@theartwebreathe - Unfortunately no, It's not possible to add new apps to existing bundles, the way bundles work within the iTunes system is confusing and frustrating for users to say the least. I will have to remove the old bundle and make a new obe at some point, but after the fiasco with bundle pricing confusion last time I tried to launch with a bundle, I don't want to do that again.
Kudos, Mr. Rice. As a guitarist, of course my first response was, "oh, I have tremolos aplenty in my guitar amp sim apps, I can give this a pass." Then I watched a few vid demos and of course my first response was, "Must. Have. Now!"
Haha, thanks man, I think you'll be quite happy with it!
