AudioBus apps accessibility

Hi audiobus developers
i'm a blind user doing music on my own (personal)
i bought so many apps including daws & effects, 90% of them are not accessibile, specialy Daws (ALL of them sadly), the AUFX sery of effects are the most accessible apps
if anyone want me to be a accessibility tester & Accessibility leader, i'lle be here for free
all i want is to open the door of daws to blind people on iOS
fl studio, qubasi, and auria are not accessible at all, nothing spoken infortunatly;(
the only and only accessible daws in iOS at this time for me is Garage Band
so, i'm ready for anyone, please connect.

  • Hi!

Would you say that just labeling buttons correctly so they work well with VoiceOver would improve things for you enough to make an app useful? What other things do you think are important to keep in mind while making apps accessible?

    Best,

    Sebastian

  • no no, not only the buttons
for example in a daws, including fl studio & auria the gui is not navigable at all
people should use the native iOS COCOA GUI elements and label them, and add accessibility describtion to the buttons

can you tell a little about how you make music on iOS without seeing the GUI, please?
i can't figure the voice over out (without me looking).
(I always look @ guis so they work with vision defects, I have never tested for voiceover, sorry.)

  • VoiceOver is a service built-in into iOS

that ofer a spoken output of whatever you see on the screen

for example when you go right/left, you're exploring the gui. if you found something you looking for, press double click to perform the action

    ;)

fyi, if anyone want me to do testing for him i'm ready.

is there a way to have the voiceover on some other audio output?
so you could just record the output? of whatever you are playing without the voice? (voiceover only over bluethoot headphone or something?)

  • that the fun things of VoiceOver;)
when using a headset, audiobus is isolating VoiceOver voice so is not recorded
and yes, you can use the system airplay function to redirect all system audio back to blutooth and record using the headset

  • ah, thanks very much :)
