iGrand Piano on Special or should i wait for Module
Currently at 16 bucks package deal foe me as I own sampletank...should I wait for module special?
Comments
Module has higher quality sounds + 3 other instruments. The sampled piano Ivory add on is also very good.
If you need pianos now, it's not the worst approach. I actually use these pianos often for convenience.
But, I do wish they sounded better.
Like I said, it's a GOOD value but not a GREAT app.
I have a hard time criticizing any iOS music developer... even the more "commercial" looking ones like IK multimedia. There will always be cheesy sales and marketing guys around. But there clearly are people there who are musically minded, and trying to create a usable product.
TL;DR: Good value. I enjoy sketching with them, but I wouldn't release them on a track.
Correction. I actually am using a wurly from ilectric grand, which i really do like.
...and nearly every employee even "cheesy sales and marketing guys" are musicians, musically minded, trying to make great products at IK
Yeah. I also filled out much of my SampleTank Library.
The other thing to remember is that the alternative to SampleTank is really BS-i or SoundCanvas (old, but cool).
IK has removed the nags, and hardware also seems to hit the sweet spot. Both piano apps, plus upgrades are great values on sale.
I'll make sure I call out the wurly when i release on soundcloud!
Have to say after I freed up some space Sampletank made a re-appearance and has been getting a fair amount of use. Good (streamlined/quick) workflow fit for sketching/phrasing.
Yes please! You can even send me a private message here with the link I'd love to hear it when you post on SoundCloud.
It's also a good way into acceptable guitars.
The price seems really fair considering how beautiful it does sound. I listened to Doug's review of the top three Piano apps on the TSTR and all sounded beautifully to me. Well, my Auria Pro and Synthmaster funds are going down the drain pretty soon if they don't hurry up and release those pups.
I used iGrand for a long time and fell in love with it. When it went on the dark side of the moon there without an update I begrudgingly downloaded CMP, but I was quick to go back to iGrand when the update landed. Paired with Thumbjam, I can lock into a key and actually make some decent sounding music with it (I say "decent" as a reflection of my skill, not the app).
