Sci-Fi Track - Tangerine Dream Tribute
The fifth track of my work-in-progress sci-fi album is also an instrumental tribute to Tangerine Dream. I wrote and recorded this a few days after learning of founder and prime mover Edgar Froese's death early this year. Anyone familiar with "The Keep" soundtrack will know where I got the idea for the percussion. Mixed and mastered in Auria.
Apps used: Yamaha Drum and Arp, Alchemy, FM4, Audiobus, Reverb FDN, AudioReverb, Audioshare, Auria.
RIP Edgar Froese, 1944 - 2015. All comments welcome!

Quiet inevitable menace. Unhidden stealth. Rain obviously. A melody of parting. Also, perhaps more than anything by the end, restrained. Especially the (applauded) choice to just let it go, no final thump or collision. Good.
Really very good, got the feel just right, top job
Thank you, Johnny. Life marches on. We're just visitors, hoping to leave a few bars worth humming before we go.
Thank you, Doug Tough gig for a rocker who can't play keys, but I felt inspired. I'd just re-watched The Keep and noodled this out playing on the glass, no sequencer, no physical keyboard.
Stepping outside of your comfort zone is really hard to do. It takes some bravery and some throwing caution to the wind type of attitudes. This one is a good contrast to the others too.
Truer words rarely spoken, shame it is so very hard to keep them in the forefront when required etc.
Excellent track. A great tribute.
Great track eustressor! Thanks for sharing!!!
True, true about leaving your comfort zone. In most aspects of my life I chain myself to a rock deep within the solace of my comfort zone. With songwriting, however, I've often tended to be more ambitious than my technical playing abilities (or worse, those of my bandmates) would easily allow. I blame a reckless "if I can think it, we can sort out the playing bit later" attitude ...
Thank you for the kind words
You're right, It is difficult to keep that "life is fleeting, life is precious, let's GO" attitude front and center, but if it's at least there as a touchpoint to reference when needed, that helps.
Sometimes another will jar you into that headspace. You helped me along these lines yourself, Johnny, when you asked when we might be hearing some vox. Originally I planned to wait until every track was recorded before circling back for vocals. Your comment led me to reconsider. The album is in three acts and I almost have Act I complete. Why wait? Life is short! Plus if I do some vocals now, I can play/learn mixing those while I continue laying down the rest of the album.
So I've decided to step up the vocal schedule and record vox for each act as it's completed. And for that bit of sage advice I thank you, sir
Just need to wrap up one more song and a few interstitial bits (yes, I have the Astronaut Voice app and fully intend to use it).
I would strongly suggest you pass on the Forum's Week of Naked Rock-Climbing, Acid Blotter and Base-Jumping in Our Sundresses Party
So that's what you lot chat about in your Google chats. Doesn't anyone just bowl anymore?
Thank you, and thanks for listening
Thank you for tuning in, @gdog - much appreciated
Great track. You're making nice progress it seems. Looking forward to hearing the vocals. Keep it up!
Thank you, Toz! The vocals will be coming sooner than originally planned
VERY atmospheric. I can't wait to hear all this stuff with the vocals. Such a cool idea/inspiration for a project.
(Sorry, fell way behind getting back to folks these past few weeks)
@supanorton Thank you - this particular track won't have to suffer through my wailing, but the rest will suffer mightily! Appreciate your feedback
