Why won't GarageBand allow me to switch over to my other apps?
This problem suddenly arose. Suddenly, with GarageBand as my input, I cannot switch over to my output apps nor can I hide the icons as I used to....My IPad Air was recently updated...is there a new compatibility problem?.....my other inputs work fine and I can switch over with no problem....... Please help...

Yep. Apple knows about this but as always there's no clear date of when the update that fixes it will hit the app store. Shouldn't be too long(TM).
Whew. I thought it was Skynet's fault.
GarageBand cannot be put in the input slot, never was possible, only output slot. But you probably meant output slot. Yeh the AB sidebar doesn't work there, its frozen. Have to go outside AB and go in again to continue. Known bug.
I noticed Rock Drum Machine has the same issue
I used GB in AB for a couple of hours this afternoon and had no problems.
Then you probably don't have ios 8.3 or you don't use the AB sidebar in GB in your way of working, so you didn't notice the sidebar is not working in GB.
iPad Air 2, iOS 8.3, the audiobus sidebar in GarageBand only works With the home button on the left the front camera on the right, the other way it doesnt respond.
The old "turn your iPad upside down" trick works for GarageBand as well as other apps with the same issue.
It's little software bugs like this that seem to keep on popping up that make me nervous about relying on the iPad for live playing ... other than jam sessions. I hate the feeling of showing up to a gig and having some technical glitch with equipment.

It's the seemingly randomness that worries me. Some nights everything works perfectly, another night and I'll have Audiobus, Auria and Gadget issues galore.
