MIDI channel question or maybe something else...

I recently dug out my old Alesis trigger IO. For the unfamiliar, it is a device that allows drum pads to trigger midi sounds on your computer device. It doesn't seem to work widely with iOS but I did get it to work with thumbjam for iPad and I was able to record the resultant drum playing into Auria as a stereo pair. Now I am trying to send each sound from thumbjam to a different track in Auria. I assigned each trigger to a different MIDI channel in the T IO, but I'm not sure what to do in either thumbjam or Auria to finish this configuration. I'm hoping that the new version of Auria will make this much easier but we haven't seen that yet. Any helpful hints about how to record the different thumbjam sounds independently would be appreciated. Currently I am trying to record 5 different sounds on the same pass I see in thumbjam a bunch of instrument outputs but that doesn't seem to relate to midi channels. Well, thanks for your help!!!

    Note the ""Channel Start" setting in MIDI output. Each instrument is sending on the next channel. Which is which may take some experimentation to fiure out.

    I'm still confused. You have the Alesis to TJ thing working fine but you want to record the audio from each hit as a separate track in Auria? Are they separate instrument in TJ or separate pads in the same instrument (like the drum sets)?

    If they are separate instruments, each instrument has a separate input available to Audiobus. Make a new path for each (tap the (i) icon next to Thumbjam in the AB input list) and put Auria at the end of each chain. Make the requisite number of tracks in Auria and fight with the input matrix until it does your bidding.

    They are not separate instruments, it's just a midi controller. Each pad can be assigned it's own midi channel. What I don't understand is how to get the output of each different sound in thumbjam to a different track in Auria. I need separate tracks in order to use drumagog to do drum sound replacement. I have not looked into using audiobus yet so mayhaps I'll give that a try tomorrow.

    The blue 'i' in the Audiobus Input selector by Thumbjam puts up this selector. Add a lane into Auria for each instrument output you want.

    They need to be different instruments in TJ in order to use the separate outs in Audiobus. TJ can have up to 8 instruments available at once on different midi channels. Short of that, you can record all of the MIDI into another app and play it back, pointed at TJ, a track at a time recording each pass into Auria.
