Fun noodling

Some of you with Different Drummer might be interested in this. I set tracks 1-5 to drive BeatMachine and set the range sliders to the limits of BM's pad's midi assignments, and set different notes, rests, etc. for each track. I also left all the tracks unlocked, so they would follow the chord progression (G-Maj), even the percussion tracks. I also added a bass line and a bass synth line to tracks 6 and 7.

  • Excellent noodling, it is interesting that you can do that with DD and BM...
    Thanks for sharing got both;-)

  • Thanks @ soundklinik. I was surprised that it worked as well as it did the first time around.

  • You can some brilliant stuff with DD, and Russ you are the expert, it also sounds like nothing else, I love all your DD stuff

  • Thanks Doug! It's such a fun app, it's hard for me to pull away to the other gems out there, but lately I've been trying to add them in more.

  • Heya Russ, thanks for calling attention as to what is doable with DD. Having DD drive other apps like Beatmachine peaks my interest. As I don't have Beatmachine, are there other app suggestions that play nice with DD that you can mention?

  • Sure....SoundCanvas plays well, but you may want a middle-man app to send PCs to SC, as you can't save them in SC and DD doesn't send PC messages. I use Midi BreakoutBox, and that works well. Aside from that, most well behaved (midi-wise) synths, drum machines, and DAWs have worked well for me. BS-16i is another that I've used a good deal, but lately I've had some problems with crashing or freezing...not sure if something's changed, or I threw a setting off. Cubasis has worked well too.

  • I've BS-16i & Cubasis. I'll futz with those & see what happens. Thx

    Not for 99cents

You should definitely get Beat machine, it's the best deal for one of the best drum machines available.
