Can Gorilaz drum machine sync to external clock?

I think ?I read somewhere that it is an added feature from Korg when they upgraded the original iEclectribe.

I tried using MIDIflow. I know it has a MIDI because it lists it by name in the output list. Has anyone had luck syncing this program?

  • I don't know about the gorillaz version but ielectribe synced to midibus with no problems and changed speed as I changed the speed in midibus and stopped and started on cue. No continue though but looking in the manual ielectribe doesn't support that.

  • I don't have it, but I'm thinking that it might be WIST that you're referring to. That's Korg's sync solution.

  • Tried the normal iElectribe version today with MidiPro.

Sync start/stop and tempo all worked fine. Stopped responding once but a restart cured that.

It has pretty full midi implementation (notes and most controls) which all works and is on the Korg site. I found I had to use notes one octave down in ProMidi for some reason.

  • Cool thanks! I really like the sounds that Gorillaz has to offer.

  • Too bad they're subject to copyright in commercial works...

WTF? Is it just the sampled loops from the Gorillaz songs? That makes sense because it is music sampled directly from the Gorillaz album. If you write the pattern it shouldn't matter.

  • Run it thru Turnado.. They'll never know :)

  • That sucks. Is iEctribe copyrighted?

  • Of all the pro apps from any company, Korg Gorillaz is the only one that has copyrighted sounds.

    It is a weird thing.

regular iElectribe runs some samples (not copyrighted of course) but it'd be extra weird or at least harder to sue over stuff you'd make on this one, as it has osc synth voices too (Gorillaz is all sample based)

Seemed at the time that the Gorillaz version was hyping fun w/Gorillaz remixing. Which is fun and a study, too. Whether that gets you over not getting at them tasty samples, well

The cool thing also at the time is that the Gorillaz brought a lot of pre Jimmy Fallon hype to iOS music and not just with the Korg app. We probably could say we need them more than they need us but that's tricky, idevices move units every which way

I agree. When Damon Albrum (Gorillaz) made his album with just an iPad it was big news.

  • It's what got me started in the first place.
