Gadget - Ext Tempo
I'm learning to use MIDIflow now. Great program! I'm going through my apps to see what works with it.
Gadget will take clock start/stop but will not match the tempo. Aside from hearing it, the tempo in the slave app always matches the tempo set in MIDIflow. Is there a way to get Gadget get to match the tempo from MIDIflow? Thanks!
Comments
I find that Gadget does match the tempo when synced with Midiflow's midi clock but Gadget doesn't display the tempo it's locked to, I hope they change that. Are you sure it's not matching the tempo?
You're better off matching the tempo in Gadget manually before syncing it externally..
Edit: Grid works fine, but Gadget doesn't remember the ext sync tempo when you switch back to int.
Gadget syncs just fine for me in MidiFlow. I have MidiFlow and Diode-108 playing together now. I've tried several different tempos. Can you describe what's wrong?
Playing with it some more I discovered Gadget does accept MIDI clock tempo changes. What threw me off is that tempo box does not show the new tempo. With everything else the tempo box will match the number set in MIDIflow.
Ah, good, glad it's working for you.
In general, it's best to use your ears not eyes when it comes to a slaved instruments. Diode 1.1.0 will show you the synced bpm, but it's really just there for your convenience. We calculate it but don't use it when we are synced. If the number drifts between 119 and 120, it really doesn't mean anything at all. It just means there is some variation in when the clock messages are showing up. Unless they are large, the variations won't affect when the note starts at all.
