Cubasis does not work in the output-slot of audiobus in combination with iConnectAudio4+

Hi - I would like to ask, if other people managed to get this to work with iCA4+.

Comments

  • I've successfully recorded iCA4+ analog inputs through Audiobus to Cubasis. I believe I used one of the AUFX apps as an effect.

Anything in particular you are trying to do?

Nothing special - just tried it again, after a reset, but without success. Ive put cubasis into the output slot, and when I want to load it by touching it's icon, the cubasis logo appears for half a second and instantly disappears and I'm in the home-screen of io-s, not audiobus. If I call audiobus afterwards, cubasis is still in the output slot, but with the animated "zzzz". It is not possible to call up cubasis. I'm on i-os 8.3, latency in audiobus is set tp 256 frames.

  • I've just tried it with Auria and this works without problems in the outputslot. By the way Cubasis also does not work in the input-slot. With iCA4+ disconnected, or without audiobus it loads.

  • I'm not close to my gear right now, but will give it a shot again when I get some time this evening.

  • Thanks! I just tried a factory reset of iCA4+ but nothing. Weird.

The problems is solved. I've done a "harder" reset on the ipad by pressing home-button+power-button for a few seconds. Now it works! :) I have not found a way to flag this thread as solved, but changed the title. @hermgreider Thanks again for your help!

I've thought, it was solved, but this was my mistake. After reseting the ipad, it lost connection to the iCA4+ and worked normal with internal speakers and mic. That was obviously the reason cubasis worked in the output slot. Now, connected to the iCA4+ again, cubasis still refuses to work in the output-slot of audiobus. I would appreciate any help on this topic.

  • Yeah, no problems. Recorded analog input through Audiobus with AUFX:Space in effects slot to Cubasis audio track. I had to remember to select Audiobus in Routing (Otherwise it bypasses Audiobus). iPad Air 1, iOS 8.3. Mine isn't default iCA4 setup, but default would work.

  • Audiobus and Cubasis setup

So it should run - don't have a clue, why it doesn't, with my setup. Apart from that I'm an an air 2 it is the same. Perhaps reinstalling cubasis and audiobus is worth a try.

Reinstalled both, but sadly without success. Now I have no more the "zzz" icon in audiobus, but the normal one, but when I touch the icon, cubasis still doesn't start. Must be my air 2 if everything else is the same.

Update - I've tried it with the ipad 4 of my brother - does not work also. So it's my iCA4+? Really weird.

I think I will return my iCA4+ on Monday and get an exchange unit. Audiobus and cubasis are somewhat essential for me.

  • Did you try a ticket with iConnectivity? Could be a bad unit, but seems odd that it would crash apps. Good luck with finding a fix.

Thank you - I did want to return that special unit for other reasons also. One of the device-ports sits a little bit wonky (-edit- wrong word, it's not wonky, but leaning to one side) in its housing, and I'm not sure if this gives me problems long-term with frequent connecting/disconnecting and it hangs sometimes, so a hard-reset is necessary, when midi-data arrives. Could be a firmware-thing, of course. More luck with the next one, hopefully.
