  • I was excited for FM4, turns out I already have it. lol............... As a guitar player, I sure have a lot of synth apps. Good thing for SoundPrisim, and the other controllers. ;)

  • Got Pinnacle for $5. I could be wrong but I'm under the impression that it's better than iMovie.

  • @mkell424 That's what folks say. Be interested to hear your opinion....

  • Jakob loves Pinnacle...A LOT

I watched the tutorial and played around with it. It is more advanced than iMovie. It reminds me of the original version of Final Cut I used back in the day. In fact the touch gestures make it easier to trim clips, separate sound, add transitions, etc.

    Check it out:

  • @mkell424 Thanks (a lot :). I am grateful to iMovie because I got sufficiently irritated with its limitations that the balance was tipped and I signed up for Adobe CC and then was sufficiently irritated at spending all that money every month (makes apps seem real cheap) to force myself to learn Premiere, which is good, BUT would love an on-the-go quick cutter and maybe this might be that. Will take a sniff about....

  • The Pinnacle sale is great but, $4.99 for Cloud connection?

  • I didn't see the $4.99 cloud connection purchase. But that's a one time fee right?

  • Today's latest

  • @TheSoundTestRoom - A Big Thanks for the updates on the App Store. You guys are the best!

  • Pinnacle dropped until $0.99. I know Doug will update this. Bad luck to the recent customers.

  • Everyone should just buy Pinnacle then, if it's that price.

It's a full on mobile video editing package. Definitely better than iMovie.

  • mh, that's a matter of taste ;) I prefer iMovie
but at this price, it's hard to argue not to get it as an alternative

  • Are the IAPs essentials or the app "alone" allows better things than iMovie ?

  • It's £3.99 for 'Cloud' connection, which I'd need as I do everything via Dropbox.

  • You don't need to buy the add on to save to Dropbox.

Same question ,even if it's 0.99 for now

  • Yes, 0.99€ worth a test... I'll eat less bread tomorrow :)

  • essentially, the app allows to do some things that imovie can't do, most of which require rendering and waiting. so it is a different editing experience than imovie, I prefer imovie bc everything is realtime (and the interface looks nicer) and I would do more complex things on the desktop anyway. If you MUST edit video on the iPad, pinnacle is probably the most powerfull app for that. (there are also a few things that imovie can do that pinnacle can't) at .99 it's a steal

Are you sure? It says it's an IAP on the store (iPad version).

I think the cloud IAP is £3.99. This enables import and export support for Dropbox, Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive. Support for iTunes File Share and Box are built in.

yes I'm sure. If you've enabled the action extension in the Dropbox app save to Dropbox is available without iap and you can "open in" pinnacle from Dropbox to retrieve it

  • Boooo not happy! Just bought this over the weekend on the blag sale thinking the sale price was due to end at some point soon and very likely to be at the start of the week. Not good vibes to rope some people into a sale price then make them feel the big bite a short time later with a mammoth reduction... THANKS!

@BiancaNeve, could you explain exactly how you proceed please ? Do we need a Dropbox pro account ?

... I think I've found : we can transfert or share to "other app" and select Dropbox here, then from Dropbox "open in Pinnacle studio".

  • Assuming you have iOS8 and an up to date copy of the Dropbox app .....

First time only Go to the photo app
Pick a picture and press the share button
At the end of the row with print at the bottom press the "more" button
At the bottom of that menu you should see a Dropbox switch. Turn it on.

Then when you press the share button in pinnacle press "other app"
Press the share button again having set the render options
Then after its finished rendering your file you should see the Dropbox option.

Actually you may be able to short cut that and just press more in pinnacle. But I did it the long way.

This works as of now. Can't guarantee that pinnacle won't produce an upgrade that blocks it though.

One drive doesn't have action extensions and I don't have a google drive so don't know about that.

    @BiancaNeve, thanks ;)

I've just turned on the Dropbox switch in the Photo app as you explained, and it seems that it works even with the switch off (which was the case on my ipad a minute ago) ;)

Thanks, yeah that's what I thought.

ok nice workaround, though as you say they might block this at some point.

I'll have to check out a few vids and see if I'll use it - to be honest I use Sony Vegas on the PC for video editing, but for 79p it seems silly to resist.

  • @BiancaNeve That's a great tip, thanks. Seems to work with Google Drive that way as well :)

  • hmm.. I ave Vizzywig, and really like it a lot, but for .99 I will give it a try, and prob. like it better. It looks like it does a lot.
