Audio streaming - Bluetooth vs Airplay?
I want to stream all audio from my ipad to my hifi setup for listening to Spotify etc, but also to hear my synths: Korg Gadget playback etc (I know about the latency).
Debating over a Bluetooth receiver (lossy audio is okay for me in this case) or Airport Express using Airplay.
I'm confused: does Airplay play ALL audio from my iPad or do the apps need to be 'Airplay compatible'?
I believe Bluetooth works with most audio apps, correct?
Which of these two uses more battery power?
Comments
Do most synth apps even support audio streaming to an Airport Express through AirPlay?
If you Mixdown to iTunes, you can use AirPlay. I use AirPlay throughout my house, inside and out, and pretty much love it. Just don't turn on the microwave oven
@eustressor yeah, iTunes would work but I'm curious if I can stream audio from most apps directly?
Did you also use Bluetooth for audio streaming? Curious about their difference in battery usage.
Hey dude,I use Bluetooth for spotify with no problem, and I use AirPlay to test my tracks from Auria on my TV sound system.i have not however exclusively tried synths on either though.hope this helps.
@R_2 Bluetooth for song playback is spotty for me, so I haven't tried sending audio with any music apps, sorry. My primary use of Bluetooth on iOS is a BlueBoard with an expression pedal used with JamUp Pro to switch presets and play Wah-Wah. That works pretty well ...
Thanks @LostBoy85 and @eustressor.
I bought a €40 Bluetooth receiver with AAC support. Works and sounds perfect with Spotify, TuneIn Radio, Soundcloud, etc.
With Synth apps it's hit and miss. Not sure why.
Working: Gadget, iPolysix, Animoog, Nave, FM4, Wavegenerator, iSem, Sector, DXi.
Not working (auto switchback to iPad speaker): Audiobus, Loopy HD, AudioShare, Final Touch, MasterRecord, iMini, iProphet, iVCS3, Terasynth, MitoSynth.
I mainly bought it to listen to Spotify etc. So I'm fine. Battery usage seems minimal.
